Mike, if you seriously know what these are..... you are quite good!

    let's start with #2

That is a louisiana waterthrush. They are much rarer this time of year, as they are early to arrive and leave. The differences between L. waterthrush and northern waterthrush are more suttle than most books discribe too. ADVANCED ID bird.

Now... your first bird is a very good study bird. It looks warbler like, has some finch qualities and oddly has a double wing bar ;)

The first is a FEMALE SCARLET TANAGER

Finding a GH owl during day light hours is rare! I have only see a few that were in the open like that.

Great framing on this image too!

I actually go birding at 3am on my " lunch break" and 5:45 am on my last break . I then go birding at 45 MPH on my ride home. By the time 8am has rolled in, I have atleast 25 species ;)

But... all these western birds have saved me alot of airfare

Well I guess I'm half as good. I thought the yellow bird was a female Scarlet Tanager but the other bird I was thinking was an American Pipit. It looked close to the picture in my Sibley and it mentioned the bird bobbing its tail up and down which this bird was doing.

I tried today to get a picture of a western scrub jay for Paul and Almo, but instead I found these weird but colorful looking birds with antennae.

AH yes.... waterthrushs (a type of warbler) ALWAYS bobs their tails

AMERICAN PIPIT is a LATE fall migrant and I have seen one and heard them 3 times. They can be found in open fields, beaches and coastally during migration.

This is a bit of a challenge to say the least !

It is a going away shot, underexposed subject and I can't tell the thickness of the wings

    With that said.....

It is holding it's wings like a OSPREY , but could very well be a young bald eagle mid flap holding the LARGE MOUTH BASS ;)

    Ray..

Butterflies aren't my thing. While I do admire them and photograph them on occation, I can't ID them too well. The bottom one appears to be a swallowtail, but I have no clue about that other one.

    GREAT IMAGES THOUGH

My first thought was an eagle, due to the span of it's wings. Ironic, since I always think of osprey's first when it comes to fishing birds of prey.

The large mouth bass is unmistakable though! That bird was going to be eating good!

OK, here's an old file of a perched redtailed hawk. I could edit this file much better now, but it isn't that important to me(I have hundreds of images of hawks unedited)

    Ok Paul and Almo,

I finally got a shot of a western scrub Jay yesterday at lunch and will post it tomorrow, but I'm sad to say I RAN ONE OVER this morning on my way to work! :-( I surely thought the little bugger would get out of my way once he saw I was too close, but when I felt the "bump, bump", and saw feathers in the rear view mirror, I knew he was toast. What a way to start the day. Goodbye little scrub jay!!
