Wow, it seems like only yesterday I stumbled onto this forum... 2500 posts later it's still a new and wonderfull experiece everytime I come here. I haven't posted any pics in the last week or so because my DSLR took a sh!t on my and I had to send it in. I'm still waiting to hear from them to see how much it's going to cost to have it fixed. It is insured so depending on what caused it to malfunction, it might not cost me anything to have it fixed. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Here are a few shots from my last outing before the camera died.

I love that first shot! What lens did you use? Any filters or polarizers?

    Thanks Jared & ladybugamanda.

All three photos were taken using the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 USM L lens @ 24mm. No filters were used in any of the shots shot. I did double post process the RAW file of the first image and combined them in PS to get more range in the shot. I processed one image for the water, lillies and sky, and another for the background foliage.

Thank you. Shooting in RAW is way beyond me, as is 'double post processing'. Someday I'll be there! I'm wanting to expand my lens options though. I have the kit lens (EFS 18 - 55 mm) and a telephoto ( EF 75 - 300 mm) but I'm thinking a macro and wide angle would be nice. I'm also thinking of a polarizer and maybe some filters. Any suggestions as I form my wish list would be nice! TIA

I don't think you can go wrong with a good polarizer. Get the best one you can afford. I have two cheapies that I don't use much. Neither one of them fit my 24-70mm lens so I will be spending the money on a good polarizer in the near future. I may also get an intensifier filter. The affects can be duplicated in photoshop, but I love to shoot film for fall colors.

Thanks for taking the time to look and comment Larry, Rick & Ray.

Ray, you're not the first person to tell me I spend too much time here.

Great lily shots! Hope your DSLR 'gets well' soon. You've more than got me doubled in posts. I not really counting and 1000 just sort of happened to me one day.

Still no word on the camera... Wouldn't you know, I booked a wedding about an hour BEFORE I knew I had camera problems. The wedding is the 23rd of this month so I'm hoping to hear something soon. If it's not going to be fixed in time, or isn't worth fixing, I'm going to need to make a purchase. I would hate to have to spend the money right now, but I would love a good excuse to upgrade.

Don't take this the wrong way, but this is a good case for the need to have a backup. Problems could have developed (pun!) an hour before you shot the wedding, too.

Congrats! I'm coming up on my next big number as well. I guess I'll have to get a decent photo to post with it.

It is a very good point! I do have my Elan 7N as a backup and I planned on taking it just for that purpose. If my digital isn''t back, or replaced in time, I still have all the gear I need to get the job done. My only real concern now is that I won't have a back up, since my back up will be my main rig for this job.
