    Portlanders... beware!

    I'm moving to your neighborhood

To copy cat Speed's post about not being around much...
    I haven't been around much.

Just spend the last week in Portland and took a job offer, I will be up there by the 25th of this month.

Hope to see some of you shooting around.

Tell us more! What is the job?

We will miss you down here. I'm sorry we didn't get together more. Your kids and husband are great. Maybe you can rally the Portland area troops, though

    Funny funny John!
I took a marketing position at a securities firm in portland. (what i used to do before i was teaching).
Its happening really fast. I blasted my resume around for a week- and drove up last Wednesday and had 2 interviews and 2 job offers by Friday.
I cant say that I'll miss the Bay Area entirely... but the people for sure

    Hey R,

Congrats!! The great thing about Portland is that it only rains once a year!!!!

Hey, I've been living here for the past 8 years and just love it. It's a fantastic place to raise a family and get out and do things (if you like the forest, river, waterfall, mountain, and beach). I've been busy and haven't had time to read these boards much. However, feel free to email me if you have any questions (timd@calpine.com).

    Cheers,
    Tim

    I KNOW!!!!!!!!!
I tried to sell that one to my hubby. He is so adamantly against moving to the East.
Booger! My family is from Upstate and Brooklyn, NY. I tried to sell him on NY or Connecticut, the only easternly place he was interested in was Florida.
    hmm.

My sister lives in Portland, so its a logical and gorgeous choice for me.

    Hey Bek!

I hear you're leaving the Bay Area? You're making it harder and harder to meet you... now I have to go to Oregon... sheesh.

I hear Portland's a pretty cool town. Make sure and post pics!

Best of luck in your new job and your new home!

Hey... congrats on the move. I lived there for a year and half and really loved the town. It was the only city where I saw just as many people running in the rain and in the sun.

It's a good lifestyle up there.... Congrats on the job and the move. BTW..can you name the firm that you are working for?

The only problem is the freeways are becoming like LA. Stopped! Wilcome to Portland and the rain is going to start some time soon, late Sept- early Oct.

As much as I love biking, I have no bike! (ok, I do have a bike, but not a respectable one to bring around you avid riders!)

So I will watch- and take pics!

Now Now, why do you need an over priced high tech bike. Mine is an old 10 speed inport, no less a "Tiger". I saved it the scrap heap, it must be from the 70's or 80's. It does ride nice after I repaired it, but it is a little small for me but I don't have more than a hundred in it.

There are some very nice cycling, but I cringe seeing some inexperianced riders where only experianced rider should be. Narrow country road with out shoulders is not a place to have small childern where the speeds are 50 miles per hours, an accident waiting to happen, as the tracfic is heavy.

Attached is a panorama of the place

It was a joke.. my bike is a 21 speed something or other, man's bike.
Its heavy- weighs a ton. I want a single speed mountain bike, low maintenance, lightweight and SMALL! Im a little person.
I used to ride all the time when I was "younger" but not so much in the last 10 years.
