Perhaps this is why we all had such a hard time finding the "film" one. It didn't exist!

I'd like to see this redone, with a true film shot in there.

If there isn't a film one there, then this has been a very unfair posting. It was a good idea, but certainly the original poster should be chastised a bit for this blatently unfair posting. The whole idea is to address what the nature of the post implied not to try and belittle people, was that the intention of the post in the first place. If so, I would never have thought Nat of being up to that sort of shinanigans.

I hope she doesn't disappoint us.

    Hey Pete,

for starters...I'm sorry you felt my post was in poor taste ( I presume this by the "tone" in which you expressed your self)....

second---I'm up to all kinds of shananigans if the setting is right---I like to have fun---not at the expense of people.

third--- please re-read my post below:

    Anway here's the poll
which of these images were taken with my D70 andwhich were taken with my Pentax K1000 and scanned in

Film has a distinct quality to it but can we at a glance really judge a book by it's cover....

--------I never said that ANY one of them was or was not film

-----I used the word imageswhich implies that more than one can be either or both or none.

----I offered two choices D70 or Pentax K1000 and three choices if you count the part of the poll where I gave the option of "i don't know"

------I stated that film has a very distinct quality to it ---which it does. but when presented at 600x400 pixels is very hard to tell.

-----last my main objective was to see if people could truly tell at the size we post whether and image can be differentiated as digitally captured or not.

To "belittle" someone it would require that I have a malicious intent to start---and frankly after working 52 hour weeks for the last six weeks---I have a lot more to do with my time/priorities than that and...honestly...a person can't be made to feel "belittled" if they have a good measure of self worth.

As far as this being "blatantly unfair" the only unfairness comes in judging the person who posts when you haven't even met them in person....and making assumptions regarding their intent when out of 26 people that polled you were the only one that seemed offended.

Again---sorry if my post upset you---- but life is way to short and precious to take naything quite so seriously. ;)

Re: Poll: digital or film (not what you think)
the first and second were taken with the D70 on fully manual settings(don't remember them it's been too long) but I even had to focus by hand...EVERYTHING was on manual even the focus---I had just gotten a bunch of my sisters old lenses some of which I'm still trying to find from our move three months ago the third was taken with the minolta dimage g500 on BW setting as is except for cropping---exactly as it came out of the camera---I loved that little camera. the fourth was the D70 convereted to BW in PS--- slight sharpening but not mych else...for most of my images---I usually adjust levels and sharpen and dodge and burn things till i have the look I feel best gives me more of a "film" look than digital.

I guess since I got my D70 that's been my biggest goal. photography is the medium and I think I'd consider myself more of and artsy fart than a photographer. Don't get me wrong still working on getting an image in camera that requires no real "touch up" to achieve the film look---but I think that may be a pipe dream...
