Playing with my Alien Bee AB800
I know, I know, lots of technical mistakes here, but you try getting Spike to sit still for a photoshoot and see how well you fare! :D I will try and get some real subjects soon so I can practice and get better.

    Camera: f/5.6 @ 80ss, 100 iso
    1 - AB800 to left @ 1/8 power shot through 32" octobox
1 - Britek BB-50 to right for a tad of fill

Not a bad shot at all...

How did you get him to tuck his tail between his legs ? :)

    Cheers, Don

This is actually a pretty good lighting setup, the softbox catchlights are very nice. You might try bumping up (or moving closer) the fill light to the right. If you have a meter, try to get it set between 1/2 and 1 stop lower than the key light (octobox). The only other technical issue I see is that the subject is too close to the background so the backdrop comes across a little to crisp and well defined. Fixes are pretty easy, move him further out on the sheet or grab the fast glass and open the aperture up to @ f/3.5.
