My first pinhole camera

I made my first pinhole camera the other day after looking over a DIY website that Tel, and Livin4lax have posted links too. Here are the instructions that I followed to make the camera.

And here are a few of the pics that turned out. I would have more, but the lab cut most of them in half when they were scanned. :mad2:

Very good try. I've been told that you need the smallest pin hole passable. I've been told you can use photo print paper(not inkjet) as film in large home made pin hole cameras.

Thanks guys. This is just something to play with for me, nothing serious. I did just rebuild the camera with a new roll of film. Some cheap Konica Minolta film I got a year or two ago at the dallar store. If this roll turns out any better, I may try a roll of B&W and have it cross processed, if that's even possible. After that, I think I will pretty much be done with the match box pinhole.

I'm making one out a cereal box right now. Just gotta make the hole and stuff.

But the thing is, Me + Film = Catastrophe. I heard you can do it with paper, so I'm gonna try it.

Luckly, it wasn't the negs that were cut, it was just the way the scanner cropped them. I still have the uncut negs. I'm going to scan them at work myself. My next roll I will just have developed, and do all the scanning myself. I had them done at a 1 hour place so I could tell them not to cut the negs, and explain to them that this wasn't a typical roll of film. I felt it was safer to have someone I could explain it to in person, vs putting it in writing and sending it out to someone else.

Very nice! I like the effect in the second shot.

I wonder if it might be easier doing this with medium format roll film - people shooting that stuff are more likely to ask for special services like uncut negs, where 35mm is probably an automatic thing for most labs. Any good lab should be able to do anything you want to 35mm as well, but 120 might make them look a little closer - just a thought - plus you have a bigger neg to work with.

fun stuff. I made a pinhole earlier this year with a carboard box and ilford photo paper, but really didn't like the results. Some people like the look of pinholes, I just don't. But your images are pretty cool!

Local toy store has a £9.95 pinhole kit for 35mm film.

Steve, it took me until just now to figure out what that second image is. It's a vace and a lamp on top of a dresser.

Brent, I'm not a big fan of these types of images, but I find them fun to play with. I have some Ilford photo paper sitting around that isn't going to get used any time soon. I may have to make a bigger camera to use that stuff up.
