    Photo Assignment Help-- Portraits?
Hello everyone, it's been a while.

I used to frequent the board quite often, but due to moving and the drama of living with other people, I haven't been around much. I have been lurking a lot lately in hopes of catching up, but I've missed quite a bit!

So, I'm in a photography class at school, and we got a portrait assignment last week. I have (as of right now) one week to shoot it, develop it, and print it. The assignment is: 5 prints, no babies, no significant others (unless very interesting), annnnd...I think that's it. We can have up to two subjects per picture, and as many models as we can find for the five prints.

My problem: I have very few friends locally, and no idea of where to shoot.

There's a very interesting kid in my English class, but I've no idea what to do once I get him to agree to let me photograph him. I'd have roughly 15 minutes, and it's on a campus--where could I possibly find an interesting scene, or at least a decent background? I know I could just have him stand anywhere, and use a very shallow DOF, but even then, I doubt I could get the background blurry enough to not be distracting, or find decent lighting.

    To summarize:
I have no interesting people to photograph, no where to take them if I find someone, and roughly 5-6 days. I can not get an extension.

    Anyone have ideas, or tips?

This kid, the one you find interesting, why does he interest you? If you can clearly communicate the "why" then you might have an effective portrait.

A portrait IMO is much, much stronger when it tells you something about a subject. Sticking him in a forest with a blurry background can be done by anyone, it's just not special.

He stands out completely from every other person I've met in school. And not in a fake, I bought this entire outfit in the mall, type of way. I believe I've just thought of a portrait idea.

Sebastian, I love you, and it only took 3 minutes.

    I very much dislike deadlines.
