    Photo archives.

So I've been browsing my photo archives looking at shots from years past. It has been a very humbling and encouraging experience. I both see what terrible mistakes I made, and I now see all the mistakes I have stopped making! So many photos, I see and I have to ask myself: why?? What was I thinking? Anybody else ever looked through your archives, just shaking your head at what a terrible job you've done?

Ha, srsly I am glad I made those mistakes though, I think I'd still be making them now, had I not been making them then...

I often tell people that our mistakes are more important than our successful photos. That's because we learn the most from our mistakes. Mistakes and accidents offer us the greatest opportunity for growth. And that's not just true for photography

The most important part about our mistakes is to learn from them, and not to repeat them.

Yes. It makes me wonder what mistakes I'm making now that I will be slapping my head about in coming years...

All the time. Looking back makes you a better photog. I get new software like Lightroom and CS4 or learn some new techniques and find myself wanting to re edit old files. Kind of like an old rock band remastering their old songs and releasing them again.
