Out and about - photogathering of 1

Spent some time out shooting this morning, we are almost at 50 degrees today. It was nice to get out and enjoy the warm weather :)

is the view from down Wisconsin Ave. When they first built the new addition to the museum, some people thought they should take the sculpture down, as it interfered with the view. The sculpture is bright orange and has been there as far back as I can remember. Who's to say which piece of art is more important?

Second is Pieces of Eight, a restaurant right on the water, between the art museum and the summerfest grounds.

Last is just a corner in the city, took it while I was stopped at a light. It continues to amaze me that people have no respect for the neighborhood they live in.

I meant to comment on your recent shots, but didn't...so elt me do it now.

You have a unique perspective on things, one that I enjoy very much. I wish you would have shot more when we were in Chicago last year, I would have loved to see your vision of the city.

I really enjoyed the shot of your daughter looking out the window, very serene.

I like the sculpture. You break the rules well in this one.

BTW, on a technical note, the tones are a little bit flat, was this a straight greyscale conversion? If so, read Asylum Steve's tutorials on B&W conversions, he lists several methods of getting better tones and contrast out of converted digital images.

Great stuff, keep it up!!

Good eye for subjects, good eye for composition, Adina. I do agree with Sebastian about the tones...a little punchier with the contrast and you'd have some winners here. I especially like #2. Good work.

I agree with Seb and Charles analysis about the photo's. And number two is my favorite. The ice in the water along with the black and white gives it a cold feel! But I really like this shot.

I'm going to join your photogathering of One this afternoon. It's going to be in the sixties - no wind, lots of sun.....and I'm going to the City...hopefully :cool:

I hope you went inside the museum sometime during February and viewed the the artwork on display by Wisconsin schoolkids. I was there last weekend and enjoyed it. This weekend I rolled the bike out and got it started after its winter nap.

I like the lined up sculture/museum shot. You give it a very formal feeling with everything in it's place.

Really like some of the new stuff you are doing. There seems to be some real thought going on behind the photo. Makes it more than just a picture.

I've been practicing!

As far as the conversions, I am always afraid that it is going to be too much, so usually end up with it not enough. Going to work on that some more.

I wish I would have shot more in Chicago too, not everyday that I am there. I am getting a bit more confident with my shooting, so next time I hope to take lots.

Didn't get to see the exhibit at the museum, I am hoping to get there more frequently though. In the past two years they have had a few things I wanted to see, but never got around to.

Lately I am going out with a shot in mind, that I want to get. If I get that one, I am pleased, anything else is a bonus. This time it was the museum/sculpture.
