OT - We are sick again
This time it is my youngest. Two weeks ago, my oldest. My husband has had something on and off for a while now.

Does it seem to anyone else like this winter has been one long illness? As soon as one is better, someone else gets it. My youngest has had the flu, or something like it, probably 3 times so far, fever and everything. My oldest has had it more, and she's a puker. And I've talked to some friends and they all say the same thing. It's been pretty much all winter. One thing after the other.

Can we just be done with this already!?!

    a minor vent....

I'm sure it'll be round our office soon.
We have a few parents off nursing sick youngsters.
One guy sounds like I did when I had bronchitis, but like me won't go home when he's sick.
So I reckon we've got another round of illness on its way arouind the air conditioning for the next week :(

Hope you & yours are better soon.

Adina, I just went to the doctor today, thinking I must have walking pheumonia or untreated strep or something! I've been sick since December, not one big long illness, but it comes and goes. Irritating!

It's not being passed around the family, either. It's just me. But every time I feel better, it's only for a day or two and then I'm back to shivering in front of the fireplace, and alternating a day of blowing my nose, a week of coughing, a lingering sore throat ...

Doc found nothing, just said it's a virus and once I've had a virus, I'm susceptible to the next thing that comes around. But I think this is one long connected thing.

My hairdresser said she, too, wakes up feeling lousy, feels better as the day progresses, then feels lousy at night again.

Same with my daughter and grand daughter Adina. The son in law was sick a couple of times, but seemed to have shaken it off quicker. The whole winter has been one illness after the other. Sore throats, fever, congestion, the whole bit. It seems to go away for a week or two and then it starts up again. She tells me a couple of her friends with kids are going through the same thing. Sorry to hear it hit you and your family too. :(

You guys are getting what I like to call the boomerang flu, cold or fill in the blank disease. With my daughter at the lower school and my son and I going to the high school every day, we are exposed to and give each other just about everything airborn. On top of that I am allergic to January through June and too stubborn to see the allergy doc, this makes for some interesting nasal symphonies. I hope that you and your little ones soon recover.

A lot of something going around here too.
My daughter is sick, and in the last two days almost 800 children were sent home in my county with fever, nausea, diarrhea. I've been lucky so far, as has my wife and son.

Hmmmmm. we have been very fortunate here. No one has been sick. I have to give my wife credit. She insists on humidifiers in each bedroom. they run every night from September through May. I swear that she's on to something.

Although, I must admit, here in New England, the flu bug hasn't hit too hard. Maybe it's becaus ewe're all so delerious with a Red Sox World Series Championship and two Patriots Super Bowl Championships in the past year :)

Seriously -- I think my wife is on to something...

I hope you all feel better soon! Humidifiers. The key to your health.

Wow! You know what? I was sick with various symptoms for over a month! My doctor finally told me to cut out all sugar, no yeasts, no processed foods, no cheese, no fruit juices, no mushrooms, no antibiotics or steriods (cortisone or prednisone).... I did this for two weeks and have been feeling great ever since. Seems that when you get a bout of illness and a doctor puts you on antibiotics, it causes a candida infection in your stomach with affects you in horrible ways (it's not like the normal female infections, as most people think!). You will feel horribly run down, stomach ache, headache, sinus probs, and a whole lot of other problems. So basically, better safe than sorry to take acidophilus 3 times a day and cut out all of the above to see if you get better! After two weeks you should feel really good and can pretty much reintroduce the junk food slowly (just be careful, if you do it too quickly, you'll be really sick to your stomach and fart a lot! lmao). Did you know that 80% of people are out there walking around with this infection and don't even know it, and most doctors prescribe drugs to mask it but it just makes it worse?! http://www.joyfullivingservices.com/candidahandout.html for a more detailed bit of info about it. But if you've been sick long term and had any antibiotics or steroids, chances are, that is why you're sick!

(Such an eloquent infection, isn't it? lol)

actually, I have not had any antibiotics at all. That's why I went to the doc today, thinking maybe I actually should get some, since maybe I'm ignoring a bacterial infection. But no, she said it's just a virus.

I did have accupuncture in December which seemed to help a lot, at the time. But after I stopped that treatment, I got sick again about two weeks later.

Well, a number of things can lead to it. Won't hurt to try cutting out just sugar to see if you feel better, I had it a while back and didn't have any antibiotics (i'm allergic to a lot of antibiotics, so I tend to not take them even when given to me!). Sometimes if you are run down, you end up prone to it.

wouldn't hurt to cut out sugar in any case! But very hard, especially since DH is cooking a lot and uses prepared sauces and stuff.

Well we are still sick today.

No antibiodics or anything. And we use the childrens tylenol very sparingly, only if they are really miserable. Try to let thier body fight it naturally. She's a bit better at night, but I'm hoping this is the last of it.
