    OT: Recommendations for a new inexpensive printer?
    Hi all,

    My 7 year old HP Officejet is about dead, and I'm looking for a new general home printer. By general, I mean printing out letters, kid's click art, and such. I am not looking for a good photo printer (but, a quality attempt would be well received -- I have a local shop do any important digital prints).

    Things that are important:
    -------------------------
    price <= $150
    reliable paper transport
    non-cloging ink cartridges
    reasonably priced ink

    I'm happy to sacrifice some output quality for low maintenance.
    Thanks in advance to all that reply,
    Tim

    Hey... a reply! I knew that someone around here may have some insights on a "house" printer.

    Thanks Mark. But please don't take the time to dig into CR (a very generous offer though). I was just curious if anybody had a printer they (dis)liked. I'll do a web search myself when I get the chance.

    I don't know about all the other printers but as for inexpensive with moderate quality, Lexmark make some pretty decent ones.

    My friend bought a lexmark all in one for 70 bucks and it seems like a pretty good printer for the money.

    Just picked up a Brother HL-2040 home laser for $100 after rebate. Usual price is $150. It's monochrome but it is FAST and cost per page hovers right around 3 cents.
