OT - My aol "hijacked"
I'm switching to Verizon DSL - I've mentioned this before, but I'm hoping it happens in the next few days. I had some problems, called aol and they think someone got my password. Plus the fact that I can't use my anti-virus software because it's Norton and there is a conflict with Norton anti-virus and AOL. Good-bye aol for real this time.

Just had to "vent" somewhere.

THank goodness. You have been wrestling with AOL for so long. DSL will not only be magnitudes faster but the reliability will be so much better as well.

I'm curious why you chose DSL over Cable? Cable is far more reliable and much faster.

Liz, I'm so glad you will finally be rid of AOL. Once you are all set up with DSL, you won't be disappointed. What Michael said. :D

I think AOL uses McAffee for virus protection, which could be the cause of the conflict.

There's a reason it's called AOHELL!

The reason........
I chose DSL over cable because in our area there is only one cable company. Our experience with them? They don't even know how to fix a cable TV and are very unreliable. Also - my previous secretary got Cable from this company and in the first 2 weeks had to have it "fixed" numerous times. It had a 30-day money back guarantee and they refused to give her a refund. So........I'm going to DSL. At least it will be an improvement over dial up.

Because I'm so "technically challenged" I can't take the chance of having multiple problems and Verizon DSL has gotten a good rap as far as I can tell. Many people have recommended it to me.

Always glad to hear about people dumping AOL - especially now that DSL isn't much more expensive than dial up. Everyone says you won't believe the difference, and it's true!

Great news, Liz!
Good luck with the new system. I know you have enough stress in your life without the added burden of computer, browser, and ISP problems...

Liz,
I'm soo glad to hear you're switching away from AOL. I don't recommend that company to anyone I know (and they're based in the area in which I live - probably emply someone I know) But I especially like to see you move away for you! I remember our conversation in that cafe over muffins thinking "I wish she would switch :)" Now you've made it come true.

After your hooking-up and switching-on are done, you'll adore DSL :D

Best to you,
Rick
