OT: Mirrormask (or: Being Dave McKean)

Has anyone seen the new Neil Gaiman/Dave McKean film project "Mirrormask?"

If not, try to find the theater in your town that is carrying it. It is IMHO the most visually AMAZING film I've seen since "Titus."

The story is a pretty traditional fairy tale, with all of the coming-of-age symbolisms of the classic fairy tales, but seeing Daven McKean's creations moving through time, 3-D, instead of on a flat page is mindblowing!

    Go! Go see it now!

    Stunning...

I love the website, too. If you have broadband, there's a preview of the film there that gives you a taste...

While it may not be obvious (after all, I'd hate the idea of being a copycat), the single greatest design influence on my site, The Photo Asylum is McKean's work for Sandman. I still occasionally refer back to Dustcovers: The Collected Sandman Covers for inspiration when I need it...

What goes through that guy's mind is at times quite disturbing, but his visual style is nothing short of breathtaking.

I can't wait to see this film...

OH! I love Sandman. I love his tarot deck of the Sandman characters.

I can't wait for you to see the film as well. It's really really really really amazing to see his work animated in 3-D. Frightening at times but witty... and at times, just plain beautiful.

As a side note, I just finished reading Gaimans "The Anansi Brothers." A good read, but much more brief and breezy than "American Gods."
