this is overexposure !

2 ways to fix it (with my camera which has max shutter speed of 1/16000) are...

spot meter the sun(no viewfinder looking without first closed down lens and using DOF preview.. ouch burnt cornia / retina if you do while wide open with telephoto) and get a crazy high reading, then underexpose until you get detail. this will give your sun detail and your scene will be WAY UNDER.

The best way is take a frame every 15 - 30 seconds starting before the sun hits the horizon. the sun rises and sets VERY FAST!!! honestly at every 30 seconds EVERY FRAME will have different detail and be different looking than the previous.

many a sunset/sunrise was lost by simply setting up the tripod and framing the shot :mad:
