OMG! You've got HOW MANY cameras?!?

I found a drawer where, apparently, cameras in my house go to die.

Still have my first digital PS (Minolta DiMage) and the Sony Cyber-shot that replaced that (including the big dent in the front when it took a shot for my son when I tried to jab him with my crutch). My kids each have one as does the wife. I have a couple even after selling off those that had any value.

Weird when kids don't even want to use stuff that was once worthy of our affection (and money) not so long ago

Excluding cell phones and collectables that I wouldn't/couldn't use, that puts it at about seven I think.

So let's hear it. How many cameras are you currently stuck with?

At least 18 from just from a mental count, but I would be afraid to open the camera cabinet and take an actual count. They are stuffed away in the half dozen or so old camera bags that are on the bottom couple of shelves.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Excluding my collectables (Hasselblad, Leica M4P, Nikon F100) my score is quite modest for someone who's been doing it for 35 years:

Film: Nikon F80, F75, Konica Hexar RF
Broken: Minolta CLE, Fuji F40 (digital p&s)
    In use: Nikon D200, D300, Canon S95
    Charles

    Nikon D800, D7200, Sony RX100m3
Not buying any more gear this year. I hope

Re: OMG! You've got HOW MANY cameras?!?

HP C200, Canon A530 and A540, a "digitrex" junker (not worth remembering model names), a Canon A1, Minolta Maxxum 5 and Maxxum 7, Maxxum 5D and Sony A700, Olympus E-PL1, Leica IIIA, and I think thats it, I might have a red-headed step-child of a camera or two that have been forgotten (though that would probably just be that digitrex one).

I remember selling off my Canon Elph SD250 and Fuji S5100, had a bunch of different 110 cameras as a kid, those were pretty much the cell phone cameras of the 80s/90s.

Eos AE-1, and A2. 10D, 30D, 7D, 1DsII. Panasonic GF1. Yup that's it. I tend to sell off stuff, not sure why I still have the film stuff or the 10D for that matter. 30D is on a permanent lone to a friend. So really I only have the 7D, 1D and Panny.

Re: OMG! You've got HOW MANY cameras?!?

Gentlemen, many thanks for contributing to the discussion.

My initial assessment in this digital age of disposable consumer products and near constant exposure to marketing advertisements was that we buy a lot more cameras now than ever before. But as many of you demonstrated, we also bought a lot of (expensive) film cameras back in the day.

In the eighties and nineties, I had multiple SLR systems (some concurrently) including two Canon A-1's, a Contax RX, and a Bronica medium format along with some exceptional rangefinders (Contax G-1 and G-2) and a couple P&S (Contax T3 and TVS-II). Remembering what I had makes me think that perhaps things are not so different now as I had thought.

I'm sitting at around 10 usable cameras at this point. 2 - DSLR's, 4 - Digital P&S's, 2 - 35mm SLR's and a couple 35mm P&S's that are all in working order and have the potential to be used if needed.

Re: OMG! You've got HOW MANY cameras?!?

I have 3 cameras ........all in use to one degree or another.........I generally sell one to get one.

    Olympus EPL-2 - Main camera

Olympus XZ-1 - Every day carry with me camera

Olympus E-620...... my 50mm/f2 favorite lens of all time is glued to the camera! I basically keep the E-620 for this lens. I guess I will end up selling ONLY IF - Oly makes a comparable M4/3 lens. You can't beat the IQ on the 50mm/f2 (IMO)

Film cameras I pretty much never use:
    Minolta SRT-101
    Minolta SRT-201
    Minolta Maxxum 7000
Minolta Maxxum HTSi? Something like that.

    Digital Cameras
Canon XSi - my retired digital SLR that I'm keeping so I have a backup.
Canon 60D - current heavy use camera
Panosonic Lumix ZS5 - Handy little pocket P&S. Don't use it much, but it's there when I want something light and compact.

My old Canon Rebel 300D is still in the house, but my I sold it to my mom when I bought the XSi.
