    Now this is odd...
Snow in Banning! Especially since we're right on the edge of the desert, not too far from Palm Springs in fact. Started snowing last night and we got about an inch of snow by morning. It's still sticking a bit but will probably be gone by tomorrow. This ain't much to brag about, especially if you're one to live in the north or east, but here it's a big deal since it is quite a rare sight.

By the way, my wife took this picture this morning since I was in bed sick with the stomach flu. I don't think I'll be eating chinese anytime soon after last night.

Wow. you guys too. We live below the snow line up here in the North California Sierras so snow is a rarity-maybe a flurry every other year. We got 7+ inches this morning and we took advantage of it. My kids enjoyed making their first snowman;)

hahaha...my daughters live in Phx and yesterday was their birthday. So I called them and one of them, who drives a tow truck, had to go about 40 miles north of Phx and their was so much snow that even her tow truck got stuck a couple of times. What was funnier still...I live her in Wisconsin and we had a record breaking 66 degrees yesterday and most of the snow we got last week is all but gone!!!! hahaha...

    Ken -

They showed pictures of Carefree on the news yesterday and it had several inches of snow by that point. Last I heard they were calling for 3-4 feet in Flag. We're hoping they open the Snowbowl for skiing :D

Ray, the same storm that got you dumped 24 hours of rain on us! Not quite cold enough to snow. But after 150 days without rain, this desert needed the soak.

    Cool shot!

We were tired of the snow over here in the east Ray, so we thought we'd send some over to you guys in sunny Cali. ;)

I blame all this snow on global warming ...

We went on a morning hike this am and from the hill behind our house you can see the entire Superstition range covered in snow! It was beautiful! We picked the kiddo up from her slumber party and trucked north on 17 to try and get into the white stuff. A little too far out of range, unfortuately, and she was zonked. But we got close enough to see the mesas around Carefree covered! Even the peaks of the McCormicks were dusted! Heehee!

I heard it snowed even in Frisco! That would have been a sight to see. I remember just a few years ago it snowed a few inches in the San Joaquin Valley. We couldn't get over the Grapevine to get into L.A. so we had to stay overnight in a motel in Taft.

    Rick

Yes, you folks needed the rain badly, although being dumped on for 24 hours couldn't be that much fun.

    Lara

Thanks alot!! You can have it back now. lol

Global warming? Nah. Weather is cyclical. Global temps are all tied to the amount of volcanic activity we get or the lack thereof. At least that is what my 1956 geology book concluded on recorded weather patterns for the past hundred years or so.

If I'm feeling better later on, I'll try to have my wife take me for a ride up the mountain and we'll get a shot of the San Gorgonio Pass to see how much snow was dumped on te local mountains and post it later today.
