Sounds great Speedo! With any luck I'll be able to get out in the desert and lay out to watch 'em. Pretty sure I had them marked on my calendar but the more reminders the better :)

    Rick,

my suggestion is to head up rt 17 to 74? the go to lake pleasant if you can get in at night?

The place will be dark , as nothing is around for miles besides the road and a town atleast 5 miles away . The lake will also make a great scenery too

But then again you will have plenty of dark desert before then too

    But it obviously didn't take!

Shoot at f 8 or f 11 and you might get trails from Jupiter. Might. Otherwise, you'll have a lot of blank film (or blank images in your case).

I would recommend wide open or close to it. Get the fastest lens you can, preferably an f 1.4 or f 1.8, and shoot around f2.0. That will get you plenty of stars and show most of the meteors.

Also, I would shoot with a 50mm or wider. Again, depends on what you've got in your bag.

Last but not least, I'd shoot for about 30 seconds with the 50mm, longer with a wider lens.

    Hope this helps.

They should be as good from Maui as anywhere else.

Try to find a dark spot.
