New York City photogathering this May.
Who could make it?

The weekend of the 21-22 appears open for me right now.

Other ideas?

Sweet! As of right now that works for me. Hopefully that pesky job of mine won't interfere.

MJS, I guess I don't need to tell you how to get there... Couldn't resist.

I'd love to be there but only have two minor problems: Time and Money.
Maybe next time!

Great!

My reasoning behind the gathering is to say goodbye to some friends before shipping off to Arizona later this summer. I think May is early enough to beat the heat and miss the tourissts plus it's far enough from my move date that I wouldn't be hurried.

I'm thinking of doing a whirlwind tour of New England to say goodbye to my friends - NYC - Boston - New Hampshire. Natalie doesn't know it yet but if she and her crew don't come down to New York for the gathering she's going to see my on her doorstep shortly thereafter ;)

Hopefully we can firm up the date in the next few weeks and start planning an itenerary: any thoughts?

Looking forward to seeing you all again!

However, when you get to Arizona, we want to do what we can to roll out the welcome wagon and gather with you there, okay?

Get LOTS of good pictures while in NYC and make us feel like we are right there with you. Also, I have one request -- each time I've been to NYC I have intended to get an interesting shot of the flat iron building but, time would run out and I never got that shot. If it works out to where you, Paul, Liz, Danielle, Megan, Natalie, Gerry, Joe, somebody can get such an image, please do so. I'd really appreciate that. I remember it took you several trips to NYC to get your skyline picture that you wanted.

I will send a 13X19 picture of Gene and I and you can prop it up on the table when you're having dinner, it will be just like we are there too

Have a wonderful time! See you in Arizona. :)

Love to You,
Penny

I saw a company in a magazine that will make those big cardboard cut out people :)

Would love a mini-vacation
In fact, I believe I get one this year.

Unfortunately, I am going to a wedding that day, and my mini-vacation will be to the L.A. area, probably in July.

Ha! I know this gathering was a feeble attempt to snatch the tiara, but you have been foiled!

Bueno!

So it looks like we've got:
Danielle, Liz, maybe Rebekah and henceforth maybe Paul :), maybe Arctirus, and definitely a life-size cut-out of Penny & Gene :) LOL I love you guys. I'll definitely catch with you in the southwest!

I want to go to B&H to stock up on film for my 35mm and new Mamiya medium format cameras. Should we make a field trip of it? I think they're closed on Saturdays - Liz, can you verify that? I seem to remember you having a runin with their Saturday hours at one point.

Other than that, what do you guys want to do? Another cruise? Central Park? Wander around?

I'll PM Megan, Gerry Widen, and Joe Maggs if we don't hear from them soon.

Thanks!

I'll have you know I have risen above the tiarra. I don't want it anymore...

.. you can keep it, decorate it however you wish. Hang it from the top of the Empire State Building if you want. I don't care. I'm above trivial things like that.

Well, it happens that a few months ago at the Chicago gathering a Self-Portrait Tiara was bestoyed upon an undeserving - no, let's say - unsuspecting - recipient. It happens that at one point I felt I deserved this tiarra more than the... recipient.. did, and made quite the hullabaloo about it.

My therapist instructed me to substitute my desire for the tiara with something else. So now I proudly wear the Self Portrait Pink Backpack (last year's Target model) wherever I go. In place of that wicked tiarra, which I soo rightly deserved. What I ever wanted with that stupid thing I'll never know. I have my Self Portrait Pink Backpack now and I'm happy...

... or so I tell myself.

CURSE YOU ADINA! THE TIARA WILL BE MINE! MINE I TELL YOU!!

AHHHHH - I've been mainly a lurker round these parts, but always wondered about this Tiara thing. Now it makes sense.
(SURE IT DOES)

You may want to consider some of the areas outside Manhattan for a "Field Trip", for example the Bronx Zoo, the waterfront area in Brooklyn, a little upstate at Bear Mountain, Planting Fields Arboretum, or many other great photo locations. Of course, just roaming around Manhattan you'll be limited to only about 5 or 10 million interesting things to shoot.

Rick,

HEY TWINKLE TOES! IF I come maybe we can hold hand for awhile too :) But I want to wear that backpack if we hit the village :)

See what I can do , but can't make any PROMISES on being available. The one promise I can make is I will not come ARMED , as a few people in B&H looked at me weird last time as if I may hold them up;) I thought a guy carrying THOUSANDS in gear through central park may need a glock 19 9MM ... GUESS NOT? HAHAHA... I practice my rights ;)

Oh please. Give yourself some credit. It was last year's GAP model. My 6 year old wears it proudly.

B&H Hours
Indeed, B&H is closed on Saturday, and early afternoon Friday.
They are Hasidic Jewish owned and run, so they follow the Jewish calendar and honor the sabbath on Friday sundown to Saturday sundown.
