Trying my hand at Flowers...what do you think?

So my littlest one has to have open heart surgery in a month and a half and I have been looking for more and more to shoot to bring me peace. The botanical gardens in downtown has become a great place to take the kids and get some shots but I am new to the flower thing so I thought I would share and see if you guys had any thoughts or suggestions.

now this one was an accident, and it is kind of strange, so what do you think

You did a good job with the flowers.....some nice images here.

I'm sorry to hear your youngest child will need open heart surgery. I will pray for the good success of the surgery.

I agree that photography can be a much needed distraction when we have challenges to deal with. It's good that it brings you peace - keep posting your shots. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice, I didn't like the one with the ant in it.
Also, as a mother I hope and pray your little one will be o.k., rest assure that the people here in this site will also pray for your family.

I like the 8th one down. In most the light is too harsh.

Hoping and praying for your child!

Thanks everyone. She will be in good hands, if we could just survive the stress of anticipating it we will be good.

Thank you Frog I didn't even notice that the light was too harsh, I will take that to heart when I go back there this week.

Great pics. Sr. Frog is correct, a little too harsh on the lights, but not by much. Could be a post processing issue too. Did you increase the contrast during pp? I haven't looked at the histograms, but it seems like it would be an easy fix. I think you have a good eye for this type of photography.

Sorry to hear about your little one, I know it can be scary to have to go through this. But, you're in a good area for this kind of procedure, and if anyone in my family had to have this done, we would be in the DFW area in a heartbeat. Good luck.
