New COMMUNITY EVENTS forum...
This may have slipped in under the radar, but Photo John has just added a new Community Events Forum:
http://forums.photographyreview.com/...splay.php?f=40
It has come about mainly because of some discussions we had about being able to find archived Gathering threads easily once they're "unstuck" from the Viewfinder Forum. We wanted to keep all this stuff somewhere here in the forums, so I assume this will replace the seperate Community Events page on the site that hasn't been updated in a while.
John mentioned that he would like you all to continue to start Gathering threads here in Viewfinder. At some point, Liz or Charles will copy them over to the new forum. The details are still being worked out.
I realize that there's the potential for some confusion if these threads end up in two different forums, but trust me, this should be much better than the system we had before.
BTW, I suggested the name Community Events instead of simply Gathering Forum so it could also include non-gathering events such as local and regional workshops or photography exhibitions.
So, be sure to go ahead and post anything you've got going on that you think may be of interest to the other members here...

Thanks, Steve
I've been meaning to post something about the new forum. But, well, you know...

I was oblivious until I saw this post. Thanks for the heads up.

No, thank you...
Speed,
I've been totally dumbstruck why nobody else has responded to this announcement. I mean, with all the recent activity with Gatherings past, present and future, you'd think there would be a ton of folks that would welcome this new fourm.
And might, uh, consider expressing that sentiment with a quick thanks to PJ...

How correct you are, and I am sorry for being remiss in my expressions of gratitude to both you (for making the announcement) and to PJ (for making the new forum).
While I'm at it, I would also like to thank:
My Mom and Dad for not drowning me at birth.
Benjamin Franklin for everything he discovered and invented.
Thomas Edison for giving us light when all else is dark.
And last, but certainly not least...
All the A-holes that don't know how to drive on the freeways thus resulting in many lost hours, stuck in traffic for the rest of us!
Oh, and thanks to Speed for posting his reply which lead to Steve's comments which resulted in this response.
I love you Mom!

Lol!...
Brian,
Thanks for the humorous reality check. If you've been following my posts on the Digital Imaging Forum, you know my pc HD died this week, and I've been having basically a hell week trying to do all my work (and posting) on my stupid notebook until my desktop gets fixed.
Needless to say, I've been in a Supreme Pissy mood of late. Normally I would never chastise the folks here for being apethetic in responding to a post. Man, if I did, that's ALL I'd be doing all day (heh heh, just had to get that dig in).
Guess this one just slipped out... :(
BTW, there's no need to thank me, I didn't do anything...
BTW2, you should probably thank your parents for not SUCCESSFULLY drowning you at birth. How do you know they didn't try??? :D

I never even considered that... I'll kill 'em both! :p
I was sincere with my first two "thank yous", but after that.....
Sorry to hear about your computer. Having "been there, done that" I can honestly say that I feel for you. Look at the bright side.. At least you have a laptop you can bitch at us from!
Hope your day gets better. If you need a break, come join us in Yosemite!
