Hi all
Continuing my scanning of older material, shot on film.
This time it's 2003 and Nepal - the main leprosy hospital is 16 km south of Kathmandu and has 100 beds. The first image is an orderly cleaning and dressing a leg ulcer while another patient waits his turn. The second and third images are patients. The fact that they are young is encouraging - it means increasingly that treatment is being sought earlier and not avoided as much as formerly due to the stigma of the disease. Indeed, I met a lady who had walked across the mountains all the way from Tibet for treatment. Once she had been treated she would walk home again. We don't know how fortunate we are.
The last pic is me (camera balanced on a rock) - the mountain in the background is Annapurna.
Cheers
Mike
