    Name that performer!

A few photos from a free concert in Beaumont, Ca on last Saturday night. This artist was born in Mississippi but lived his teens here locally (in San Bernardino), and became very popular in the late 60's and early 70's. I won't name any of his songs as that might easily give him away. Sadly only about 100 people showed up for the concert, if that. But he still put on a great performance that lasted about an hour long. The other two pictures are of his bassist tuning up before the show and some kids having fun with the music.

I wasn't too happy with most of the photos I took that night. It was 7pm when the concert started, and the sky overcast, which didn't leave me with a lot of available light to work with. And for some reason I just wasn't getting my camera to cooperate with the conditions. I guess sometimes you have one of those kinds of days.

O man Ray I should know this one but a name will not pop into an old worn out brain. Sometimes it just takes a little time.

LOL, that's the first name that popped into my head when he said Al!

I have no idea who he is, but I didn't know George Carlin played bass. :8:

WEll he sure has aged since I last saw him. You see some old clip every so often but haven't seen him n years. Yeah a very melow sound from my era.

And Michael loved the Carlin line. LOL

    Re: Name that performer!

lol...reverend Al and George Carlin! I can see the resemblance of the bassist to Carlin, but I doubt the reverend Al goes around and does gigs with a band (well, actually he might...who knows).

It's Al Wilson, if you haven't guessed it already.

By the way everyone, I'll be gone for a few days. I need to go visit my mother before she has surgery on the 7th of August to remove cancer in her breasts and lymph nodes. It will be a very risky operation since she is 84 and her heart and arteries are not that good either, so I'd appreciate it if some of you God-fearin' folks said a prayer for her.

    See ya'll next week.

    Re: Name that performer!

Thank you, everyone. I appreciate your thoughts.

We just got back last night after a 9.5 hour drive, but we had a very good visit with my mother. I'm glad I got to spend some time with her before the surgery even if it was for only a couple of days.

Her surgery will be tomorrow around noon, and so my sister will call me tomorrow to inform me of the outcome. I'll let you all know once I know.

Even though I went specifically to see my mother, I did have time early in the mornings to go out and take some pictures while she was still asleep. I'll post some in another thread.
