My Wife DID Buy Me a D200 Today

In a surprise development for which I am most thankful, Mrs. Lamp brought me to Best Buy today to buy a new D200. It really is quite nice -- faster AF and frame rate than anything I've had before, coupled with a large viewfinder and pro build quality. The images seem to rock.

Here's my first subject using the Nikon 70-200mm VR. The relative softness in the out-of-focus areas is from shooting at f/2.8.

Did you show her my post? Is that what gave her the impetues?

I'm guessing that you didn't have to trade in your D70 either. You lucky guy.

And you've got a 70-200mm F2.8 VR no less. Man, you rock!

Great camera isn't it? The more I use mine, the more I love it. I shot some shots of my daughter's play last night, and later went out and took some star shots. I LOVE this camera!

Congratulations buddy! I know you'll put your new toy to good use.

Wonderful news. I hope to upgrade the D70 to a D200 within the next year. I will be watching your post. You shoot a wide range of subjects and seem to have many of the same photographic interest that I do. though I have never come close to your wildlife images. I always enjoy your macros. I'll be very interested in how th D200 preforms for you.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Actually, my wife is taking a little vacation with her Mom (without me and the kids) and wanted to take a good camera. I have a few kid-related events to photograph while she is gone, so we kinda needed two cameras and she readily gave me the green light on the D200 and took me to get it.

I should have showed her your post, it might have sped things up.

Well, heck! I want a wife now too!! My DH isn't thinking I'm needing the D200 yet, considering I'm not really making the most of the D70. Sigh.

What's a "DH," I noticed Adina uses that term, too. Designated Hubby? Dear Husband? Duo-Half? Doting Hunk?

Thank you. Seems so far like the faster AF, faster frame rate, and large file size (for more crop room) will help with wildlife. I really wanted faster AF for my daughter's gymnastics (though I don't post that subject much here.) To my (slight) surprise, it seems like the files right ouf the camera in JPG are a bit different from the D70 and D50 files -- a little more subdued in color, but perhaps a bit sharper with more exposire lattitude.

Highway 70 east to Newport. One right turn. Less than three miles off HIghway 70, and you're at my house.

A weekend at the beach will get you using that D70.

And you can't have my wife, but you can meet her!

If I was to get a nikon DSLR, that would be the camera I would want(who doesn't like the D2X though) , but alas..... my canon lenses won't fit ;)

Speed, someday I'm gonna show up on your doorstep!! Maybe even dragging the beagles along!

Lava, DH can mean Dear Husband, Darling Husband. Though I've known some to use it for something else that I can't write here, when their H's have been so Dear or Darling. Not me though. I do like that "Doting Hunk" though.
