    WTC Memorial Lights

I tend to stay low-key about the anniversary that today is, simply because - it's horrific, and I need to own that part of it that is and will always be my experience of that day;apart from politicians abusing it for their own gain, apart from the fighting over the memorial, separate from the ranting conspiracy theorists that I have to pass on my way to work weekly if not daily, separate from the trinket, 9/11 "commemorative" book, and fake Louis Vuitton bag sellers capitalizing on the tourist traffic of the location....

Anyway, found myself on a "shimmy" dance cruise with some high school friends. Had my camera along, and had a *great* view of Manhattan and the two beams shining in remembrance. Put my camera on 1600, noise reduction, and shot away.

I love the second shot, and while this is neither the time nor the place for the discussion, a great example of how knowing the story behind an images makes all the difference...

    Beautiful shots! Thank you, Megan.

Megan - I thought I heard they were only going to be there tonight - then "fade" into oblivion. I hope I heard it wrong as I would like to see them for a week or so. Do you know?

    Thanks.

    Thanks, Megan. Beautiful shots.

I know what you mean about the commercialization and politicising.

Those are both great shots, but like Steve, I love the second shot. Great story too, I was thinking about some of the trips I took to NYC. I actually remember being stuck on one of those cruises wishing I had a camera.

    Re: WTC Memorial Lights

Liz, I was surprised that they were up this year. I haven't been paying attention to this year's hooplah, so I honestly don't know. It's possible that it may say on the nyc.gov site? Or LMDC (Lower Manhattan Development Corporation) site.

    A few more

Here are a few more images, one of one of the "Waterfall" installations. They look better at night. Quite a lot of noise at 1600, and I had noise reduction on! That just means I really really really need an Olympus E3, now doesn't it?!

    Thanks for looking, everyone.
