Why your cell phone keeps working - or (part II)

Part II of 'Why I missed Chicago'

The first shot should lend some perspective to the closeups. On top of being nearly 400 feet up, there was a hefty wind, and the rain was coming. These steel workers were among other thing rigging new supports on the base platform (the first photo show the supports components going up the tram wire).

What a place to work and do maintenance and upgrades!

I'm in the middle of Indiana rural farm fields and we have a tower 8/10ths of a mile from my house, and three more (that I know of) just 4 miles away. They were working on the one by my house the other day as a thunderstorm approached! Their nuts! but well paid!

Actually mine doesn't. Service was terrible while I was in Chicago. Not mentioning any names, but the company rhymes with "LINT"...

Regardless, I can appreciate the work it takes to create and maintain a network. Sorry we missed you this weekend..

I think you shot more than I did this weekend... We'll have to plan something else, maybe in the spring, maybe Madison or Milwaukee, maybe...

Milwaukee, eh? I might actually be interested in that. Be sure to keep me in the loop on this one...

    Re: Ya know...

I think tower hangers are highly motivated, not just crazy! When I was a lot younger I climbed a few tall towers, it was really fun. Now I generally shoot from ground level, but there are a couple of places I'm trying to get clearance to climb and use as a shooting vantage. Not so easy to get permission as it once was! Even when you work with/for the tower management orgs.

I only shot about a Gig worth of images over Sat,Sun, & Mon. Kinda slow . .. .

Sorry I missed everyone in Chi-town but am enjoying all you photos.

Milwaukee has some unusual sights! Did I ever post anything from the new ballpark? I'll have to see if I did or not. There is of course the Art Museum by the lake . . . Have not been to Madison in years.

    Keep me informed.
