Lost and found
Hello all! I went missing again for a week or two - with good reason. I've been busting my butt working OT to save $$ to get this new apartment. It looks like I got it, pending me giving the broker my letter of employment (and getting a much-awaited freelance check to PAY the broker...) What does this mean and why am I blathering on about it on PR?
Well...
It's a bigger apartment (Rick/Walt can certainly attest to the teensyness of my current digs) with:
1 - a LONG hall from the front door to the first room. I'm debating on it's use: use it as a gallery, or leave as is and use for cool shots of people?
2 - 3 rooms + kitchen and bathroom. 2 rooms shotgun to the kitchen with the bedroom off the middle room. There is a door between the first room and middle room - so... that first room will be my PHOTOSTUDIO, where I can have clients and close the door to the rest of my apartment in case it's messy. (Unless of course they need to use the bathroom. Hm.) This is key, because it makes it a LOT easier to write the room off on my taxes. Currently my bedroom doubles as my studio/work area. Not conducive to doing a lot of work. Definitely can't write it off. Plus, the big room is big enough to get the BIG roll of seamless instead of the mini ones I currently use.
And soon I will be able to launch my Master Plan to Become Megan Green, World Famous Photographer (TM)! :D
Anyway - thought I'd share my excitement!
Megan

Re: Lost and found
Great to see/hear about you livin the dream.
My $0.02 would say use the hall for a gallery. 'cause that is where a lot of you work should be, but then again I'm not the one walking down your hallway. so cool images you've taken of important people in your life would be very nice. then you can save the galery for your office/client wooing room.

Re: Lost and found
Woo-hoo! Tell me you're keeping the futon!
I actually liked your old place. It was in a nice neighborhood, sure it was small but we call that character!
Well I guess now we'll have to have another New York gathering so I can crash your new apartment :D
Congratulations!
BTW, use one side of the hallway for gallery and the other side for friends?

Re: Lost and found
Ah! Sometimes I don't express my ideas very well. I *meant* to say - keep the long hallway clear of stuff on the walls to use as a possible site with which to photograph people. Then again, I wouldn't do it a lot, so I could conceivably take the frames down to do the shoot.
I like my current place too - but I've grown out of it. I need more space. I'll actually be in the same 'hood but a few blocks away. And yes, I'm keeping the futon! Crash away!
I *will* miss my funky disco bathroom. I'll have to take a photo before I leave.

That's actually what I was thinking. How about installing rails near the ceiling and hang the pictures from wires hanging from these rails? That way you could use it as a gallery, but also to shoot and then wouldn't have a bunch of nails in the walls left when you took the pictures down. Congrads on the new place! :)

Re: Lost and found
Well hurray for you! I love moving. In fact, if our kitchen doesn't see some progress, I'm going to seriously consider it again.
Congrats!
