    Looking for Insurance
    Hey guys!

Can anyone suggest a good Insurance Company that works with photographers? I'm not having much luck locally. I'm not a member of any national photo groups.

    Thanks

    What type of Insurance?
First of all what type insurance are you seeking? Liability? Property? Do you have a studio or will you be on site for shooting sessions? There are a variety of factors that come into play here. A general liability policy would cover you for anything you may be held legally liable for while conducting business. Inland marine is the term for property insurance for your equipment, many companys will not write this unless you have other forms of insurance with them. You may be able to get a BOP (Business Owners Policy) that would combine the two coverages into one policy. The first place to try is usually the company you have your homewowners policy with or your auto. Hope this little bit of information helps.

I know a lot of people working in the media use this company and have had good words to say. I can't say I myself have ever used it but you may look into it.

Everytime I see this question asked in pro photojournalistic forums Hayes is the name repeated the most.

    Is Hayes just for businesses?
or can you insure equipment through them without having an official business?

Liz - I think that if your a photographer, you can get Insurance. Even if its non-business. Try this link for a quick quote...

I'm still waiting to see what my local agent can do. If its not a good deal, then I'll probably try Hays.

    Thanks everyone for your help!
