Live Steam
A local Live steam club near by, had there yearly Open house/Meet this weekend . So my Wife and Son Wandered over there.
it is really fascinating to watch , they have 2 7 1/2 inch lines that are on the ground and a 5 1/4 / 4 / 3 1/2 line that is elevated
working over in the Pits , the Steam Engines really take a lot of work ( yes they run on Steam )

Re: Live Steam
Looks like a lot of fascinating machinery to look at.
I almost got into trains when young but things pulled me a different way.
I bet these guys spend as much time on their trains as we do on photography.
Thanks for sharing the experience.

Nice shots, looks like a fun day. Love that camelback! (the CVSL 1922) Reminds me of the ones the Reading RR used to use in the Philadelphia area.

More!! and a Lot more $$$$ too! that steam 2-8-4 on the Turntable cost over $50,000 and they dedicate a lot of serious time to it as well.

Re: Live Steam
When I was about 9 years old, I had a next door neighbor that built steam engines just like these. I remember he used to let me help (or perhaps just humoring me, regardless it was very interesting) out on the metal lathe. It was really quite the experience. And to see the progression (over a period of years) of the steam engines was pretty amazing.
And to ride one? That was just plain exciting. I couldn't believe how much they could pull. These little engines pulling 6 or 10 adults. I'm guessing it was either a 4 or 5 1/4 inch track.
Now to the photos. It's a great series. Brought back a bunch of good memories for me. Thanks so much for sharing them!
