Re: Lightroom User Reviews
Where are all the Lightroom users? Come out and play!
Re: Lightroom User Reviews
I am waiting on Windows 7, because LR4 doesn't work with XP - and you can guess what's on all my PCs.
The next release 4.1 RC1 is in beta, and it supports the 5DmkIII and the OM-D E-M5.
So I will be going straight for the beta to work with my new OM-D ;)
Re: Lightroom User Reviews
OK John, I've done mine. I put a link to a picture in there, didn't know you couldn't, so if you want to go in and tidy that up be my guest... (there is no way to edit a review as far as I can see).
I also find it funny that the main category lable for type of photography is "Bike setup"... :-) (oh and maybe you should allow several choices there, I shoot a bit of everything it was impossible to choose just one).
Re: Lightroom User Reviews
I've submitted my review :)

Just saw it. Thanks! Iceman beat you to the punch for the camera strap. But I appreciate the review. We all need to keep reminding each other to write reviews for all of our cameras, software and other photo-related gear. The user reviews really are what pay the bills here :)

This Lightroom user had 400 pictures to process yesterday (with Lightroom 4) doing just basic processing. I haven't had time to explore the new features yet. I'll get round to it this weekend..

I feel your pain, Paul. I took the 5D Mk III and Nikon D4 to California to shoot the Sea Otter Classic. I knew I'd need to upgrade Lightroom for those cameras so I downloaded LR 4 before I left. When I got to CA and tried to install it, I discovered my Win XP laptop wasn't compatible. Lame. So I had to shoot everything with those two cameras on RAW+JPG. My directories from that trip are a real mess. I still haven't copied it all over to my main machine or figured out how to handle all the duplicate files. Needless to say, a new laptop is on the list of things to buy over the next couple of months. And I hate buying new computers. I do love LR 4, though. The improvements are excellent!
Re: Lightroom User Reviews
I found my Sony VAIO laptop is not compatible with Windows 7.
Not enough disk space.
Video hardware not Aero compatible.
Network adapter not supported.
Not enough RAM
So to run Lightroom 4 I need to buy a new computer :mad2:
That really is not enough reason to buy a new computer

Re: Lightroom User Reviews
I'd do it for a copy of LR4! (upfront, of course :) )
I'm not avoiding it but haven't had the cash & time to make the leap yet. I even have plenty beefy enough hardware all running Win7...

I am shopping for a new laptop for that very reason, Paul. It's not just Lightroom for me, though. My machine just isn't fast enough to do the kind of work I need to do while I'm on the road, shooting events. I also want to be able to do video on my laptop and right now it really can't handle it. I've had about 4 years out of this laptop so I really can't complain. Time to pony up for something that can deliver another 4 years.
Re: Lightroom User Reviews
OK I've done my review. It took longer than expected because I had to go and look up the differences. I just installed LR4 a while ago and started using it without noticing any change compared with LR3.
I don't really have any performance problems with my laptops because they are sized to run simulations of computer suites full of mail servers. Developing RAW files with Lightroom is an interesting challenge - much more pure computation than with a mail server - but finally the same techniques work (lots of RAM, lots of I/O capacity)
Re: Lightroom User Reviews
I received the camera strap
wow ! that thing is comfortable !!! the weight of the camera is not felt, really nice difference vs the factory strap.
Thank you Photojohn !!!
and thanks to iceman for giving up the strap
