Lens renting is addicting

Decided to do a "try out some lenses on my list" rental :) Just ordered a Canon 70-200mm F/4L IS and a 24-105mm L. Got a three day weekend so hopefully they'll be here by then.

I also rented a Sony A350 body to play with my Minolta glass from my film days.

Of course the bad thing is I'm going to want them really badly by the time the rental period is finished :)

It's a great way to test stuff out before buying.

I agree Cara. I'm getting to the point on the 300mm f/4 that I know I'm going to buy it. I have rented it 2 or 3 times now. Wish I had the money I spent on renting to put towards buying it. :)

Where do you rent them?

I use www.lensrentals.com for all my renting needs.

I have also heard good things about www.borrowlenses.com but I have never used them.

I broke down and bought the 300 f/4 used from keh when I sold my stock from my company's stock purchase plan.

I have a feeling that these two I'm renting will be taking its place. I really need better quality lenses to cover the standard to low telephoto range. I have the Tokina 12-24mm for wide angle and find that to be excellent quality, and now I have the 300mm f/4 for longer shots. But for standard range I have the kit lens (18-55mm) and the EF-S 55-250. The more I use the better lenses, the more I see the quality differences.

Daq-- I also use lensrentals.com. Good service, fast shipping, the lenses are outstanding. Plus you have the owner's (often humorous) reviews of the various lenses to help you make decisions.

Well, I am probably going to rent one of those 70-200 canon lenses if they aren't too expensive.

Just an add on of praise for lensrentals.com, I received both an e-mail and a phone call asking me to confirm that I intended to order a sony body and no sony lenses, and canon lenses. They wanted to be sure I didn't order the wrong lenses or the wrong body. They do have great service.

I find their prices pretty reasonable, but having been a starving college student not too long ago, I know "reasonable" generally is defined by your personal budget :)

I'm with Cara. lensrental.com has GREAT service. Their service and prices are the reason I have not tried any of the other rental places out there.

I have only used lens rentals once, I bought a used canon MK2N from them and I love that body. Their sweat Shirts are funny to!

Lensrentals.com have been great on the two occasions I've used them. You just have to be prepared for your lens choice being temporarily unavailable and plan accordingly.

I'm also in the LensRentals fan club. I currently have a Tokina 12-24 and Canon 24-105. This is the second time, I think, that I rented the 24-105 and the first time for the 12-24. I just got them and have them for two weeks.

That's another great thing about Lens Rentals, if you schedule a 2 week rental 2 weeks in advance they will do what they have to including purchasing a new lens to make sure you have the lens when you need them.

I don't even know how many timed I have used them now but every time I never had any problems and will rent from them again.

i'm just lucky the local rental place doesn't have 300mm or 400mm f/2.8s. I'd be way more in debt than I already am!
