I have a 18' Dell FP LCD monitor that is calibrated with an Eye-One Macbeth color system.

The true test is sending a file that is profiled to my printer, and then comparing the monitor to the print. It matches perfectly. Irregardless of CRT or LCD, if my prints match what I want then it's all good.

In the true sense, while having a CRT might have more colors, it may still be outside of the printer color gamut and therefore, doesn't matter. Most professional photographers and digital artist that I know are using LCD monitors.
