Re: Last image of 2004 for me.
Happy (belated) New Year Peter...You did a beautiful job on your family portrait---except there's something way wrong with your lense===the girls just keep looking older every time.
;)
Happy New Year! Wonderful composition Nat :-)
You are so creative with B&W :) I always struggle with black and white. I always feel like I need color-kind of like a crutch for me.
No partying for me, just reading bedtime stories to my kids, and chatting with my dad on the phone. Now I'm posting here, sippin CocaCola. :D
Re: Happy New Year! Wonderful composition Nat :-)
I''ve just taken the last swig of gingerale myself
:D
My hubby fell asleep about an hour ago
he works hard---so I'll let it pass this year.
My husband does the bedtime stories too...
You know when I went to art school I used to overdo everything with color and I found "comfort" in the simplicity of BW...the textures add the "color" to spice it up...so may shades of grey...it's wonderful...try it you'll like it...it helps me to see colorful things a lot better. because I notice form and composition before I'm dazzled by the color....
Thnaks again for your kind words---I was feelign a bit discouraged about which avenues to pursue with this crazy obsession(aka photography) and it really helped to re-energize me...
take care... :)

That's great, Leon. It's so simple. I really like the out-of-focus lights in the background. What lens did you use for this?
Here are a couple from a party I went to last night. I'm not posting my last image because it was crap. But I like these two a lot.
Happy New Year to all my friends here. You all keep me motivated, challenged and inspired!

Hi PJ:
Nice party shots there.
I used 135 f2L, 1/125 @f2 (+2 stops from evaluative metering), iso 1600, hand held.
I was just enjoying the evening with the family by the fireside, lights out, just candles and the Christmas tree lights on, when I saw it and said "Hmmm....looks like a good view to end the holidays." I shot wide open to get the bokeh for the lights on the tree. Didn't have my tripod (left it at the office studio) so I just hand held as steady as I could.

Beautiful shot Leon. Looks like you have your Christmas card shot for next year.

I was actually thinking that after I finished editing the image.

Leon, that is a really great shot - and hand held, I'm impressed!
Here's mine, nothing special but part of a project. This is part of the sign at a favorite restaurant that was on their last night. The original owner started it in 1953, and one of his sons began there in the 60's. The other son is our Congressman! After 40 years, he was ready to retire and didn't find the right person to take it over - so rather than have it go downhill he decided to close it down. We'll miss them and the restaurant - not many places like that anymore.
I don't have any pictures from the party I went to afterwards - fortunately!
