    First slide scans.

As a few of you know, I - er - Santa Clause was in the market for a dedicated slide scanner this Christmas. Turns out the Epson 4990 flatbed was the best deal, got great reviews, does 120/220 and will even do up to 8x10" negatives when I get to large format. Thanks for the kind folks up here who turned me onto it.

These are the first scans I just did tonight with the scanner. The results are incredible. I did not tweak these images at all, except to remove dust and save as jpgs. The scanner came with Photoshop Elements which appears to be a step up from my previous Paint Shop Pro software. It's a good thing the scans turned out great because I haven't even learned how to USM with it yet.

These are all slides on Velvia 50 taken on a recent family vacation to Grand Canyon and Sedona. I scanned these in particular to show Santa All shot with a Nikon FM2N and various primes. Feedback is appreciated.

I will be leaving for Virginia tomorrow (okay, today now) so it will be a few days before I can check in. Hope you all have a happy and safe holiday.

    Rick
