Kevin Bacon

Went to the county fair tonight. Our county fair is a big deal (I don't actually live in this county anymore, but it's where I grew up and I work there so it's still my county) - even though other counties in the area have fairs this is the one that everyone goes to.

Anyway, Kevin Bacon lives in a semi-rural part of the county (we've also got James Earl Jones, Mary Tyler Moore, Natalie Merchant, Aidan Quinn and Robert Deniro living either in this county or the county I live in) so he and his brother and their band (conveniently named "The Bacon Bros") played the fair tonight. I just worked this one up quickly, hopefully I'll have time to do the rest of the shots tomorrow.

It was my first time doing concert photography - thank God for digital!

They play basically singer-songwritery-bluesy-rock. Got that?

Actually you can check them out at their website. If you listen to the first track under the Listen section, that's Kevin singing lead. He also plays guitar (obviously), percussion (tonight he played conga drums at least) and harmonica. His brother Michael sings lead on some songs, and plays guitar and cello.

Amazing what a lack of makeup makes people look like doesn't it.

Kevin Bacon and his wife, actress Kyra Sedgewick came into my workplace(museum) a few months ago...he grew up in this general area...and the pair were quite a site, he with torn jeans, his John Deere ball cap, 2-day stubble, she with absolutely no make-up. They weren't recognized until someone did, then the word spread quickly. Good guy, signed autographs if asked. Good shot, Mig.

She was in that HBO movie I was in! My sister and I bumped right into her and Alan Rickman dancing :) Seemed snobby, but that's just an impression ;)
