Cool Just joined, wanted to say Hello.

I didn't seem to see an introductions forum, and I think this one is the closest.

Have looked through the site and really have enjoyed what I have looked through thus far. There seems to be some very knowledgeable people here and is a friendly place.

Regardless, a bit about me... I've always loved photography, though haven't really done a whole lot of it until the last couple years. Mostly point and shoot snapshots here and there (film and digital.) Also took a B&W photography course 3 semesters ago. *REALLY* *REALLY* enjoyed that. As it turns out, my g/f for Xmas got me a Canon Digital Rebel XTi (can't complain at that )

So I'm relatively new to the hobby, though the interest has been there for a long time.

Anyhow, looking forward to talking/chatting/learning/sharing with everyone.

    Cheers,
    Greg

And now that I've posted this, I now see the "introduce yourself" link...

    isn't that how it goes?

Welcome, Greg! Always happy to have a new, excited photographer here :-)

I have been using an XTi since it was first introduced. It was my third digital SLR. I am very, very pleased with it. It's a very underrated camera.

Besides introducing yourself, I also encourage you to visit our reviews section and post reviews for your camera and other photo equipment. Look at the main navigation at the top of the page for the "Reviews" tab or the "Write a review" link under the "Share" tab.

Looking forward to seeing tons of photos from you!

Welcome Greg! It's always great to have another XTi user here! I love my XTi - it's truly an awesome camera and I've never been disappointed.

What lens or lenses do you have? I have the Canon 28mm/f1.8 for indoor shots (it's great in low light situations), and for small groups. I also have the 50mm/f1.4 which at this point is my favorite. I had a couple of zooms but had to sell them because of the weight - I have acquired a neck/back problem from an accident. However, I'm hoping to get another (lighter weight) zoom one of these days.

I look forward to seeing some of your images.

    Thoughtful girlfriend BTW!

    Hi Greg,

Welcome to PR. I'm sure you will enjoy that XTi, but if you want to relive your black and white class experience, we have a "Film Photography" forum on this site with plenty of knowledge to get you back under the warm glow of the safe light.

I haven't got out as much as I would have liked, but that's the cost you return back to school. But thus far I am *really* enjoying it.

Currently I'm with the standard lenses. EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-6.6 II and the EF 75-300mm f4-5.6 III. Nothing overly fancy... Also picked up a couple UV and polarizer filter, IR remote and of course a tripod. I love night shots so the remote and tripod are a must, even though my g/f calls me a "geek" for carrying tripod around

I'm keeping my eye out for some faster lenses. In fact, I've been eyeing the two that you mentioned. It's nice to hear that they work well.

Yeah, I'll be sure to get some posted right away. I always welcome comments, suggestions, questions, etc. And yeah, the g/f is fantastic.

Thanks for the welcome Paul. Yeah, I always head back to the photo lab at the college and just hang out and put in my 2cents here and there when people ask for opinions. So even though the digital is here, I will always have that love for the good ole' darkroom.

*WOW* Quite a response! Thanks for all the warm welcomes everyone! I think that proves that this is going to be a great place to hang out!

Now I better get going and get some pictures posted!

    Cheers,
    Greg

Another Chicago member? If we keep this up this whole place will be ours. Orange and blue and Vienna Beef logos everywhere. And we can rename the off-topic forum to "The El." It's loud, obnoxious and everyone tries to ignore it until they need it.

    Anyway, welcome.
