    Just Got Back From Miami

I just got back from Miami. I flew out on Monday and got back tonight. It was a quick trip, to say the least. The photo below is what I looked like when I was there.

More on what I did while I was in Miami will be forthcoming. But for now, take a look at my comment on this camera announcement:

Wow ... I look like that after a few beers... but never while on Vacation.

John....you need an Extreme Makeover with that look.

    Some More Miami Photos

I'm working on an article about the Panasonic press intro I attended in Miami. We got to shoot in South beach with a couple of pre-production cameras. It was a great opportunity to learn a lot about Panasonic in a short period of time. And a great environment for playing with new cameras. I have tons of photos to process and post. But here are a few just of South Beach. I really liked South Beach. It sort of reminded me of a cleaner, prettier version of Venice Beach in Southern California.

Thanks - especially when you consider it was shot on full auto with the ZS3's iA Intelligent Auto mode. I am really impressed with what Panasonic has done with the iA mode.

Is it the same iA mode that I've been shooting with on the TZ4 and TZ5? Because I'm really impressed with it.

Isn't South Beach pretty? You're so lucky to have gone in January. I've been there in April, which was quite warm, and summer, which was unbearable.

I believe it is the same, with the addition of some new scene modes. You can also use it for video now. I used it a bit when I was testing the Lumix FX35. But I think I should have given it more of a chance. Because almost every time I tried Program with the test cameras in Miami, I found the iA mode did a better job. I kind of hate to admit it, but I think it's better than me in most cases

Of course, it does lose highlights in some photos. If I was doing serious shooting, I would want exposure compensation so I could shoot darker to hold those highlights and adjust in post-processing. But overall, iA really surprised me.

I changed planes in Minneapolis, yesterday. It looked cold and flat. Not a good combo in my book. Cold with mountains is cool. But what do you do when it's just cold and flat? Drink and go ice fishing, right?

Wow, if I'd have known you were here, I'd have certainly taken you out for a beer or whatever, I was working about 4 blocks north of the Colony @ Collins Ave/Lincoln Rd. Soooo much cool stuff to shoot in that town!
