Jacksonville Florida
I was downtown this morning and I had the opportunity to hop out at friendship park and take a few pictures. This is the first chance I've had to use my new E-500 downtown.
*The first one was actually shot from the roof of the parking building at Baptist Medical Center.*

Re: Jacksonville Florida
Love the Jaguars. We discovered them when we ventured below the border to the Boat Parade back in December. My DDs want to go back down to Jax to hunt them and take pictures. I may just have to plan that outing. Didn't realise there was another member this close.

Hey!
Yup, I am a Jacksonville native. I just discovered these little beasties myself. I had no idea they were there, or for how long they have been there. Not sure if I liked them or the manatees that they had a few years back better. But they are all fun to take photos of!

Re: Jacksonville Florida
the jaguars are very fun. At one point in Burlington Vt they had the same thing, but used cows instead. Did many different people paint the jaguars like they did in VT?

Yeah, and apparently they are going to auction them off for charity.

Re: Jacksonville Florida
The Jags are great!
We've had dogs, ears of corn, hogs. and cows in Illinois decorated by local artists and then sold at auction for charity.
Often they collect all the figures up and put them on display in a central area. F-P would be a great local for a bunch of decorated cats! Let us know (and of course we want photos) if they do!
Glad to see you are having such a good expereinece with the Oly! Camera, of course. I saw the not Bud picture:).

Hey dude,
if they put them on display in one place I will be there for sure. Currently there are 3 jags at Frendship Park, the 3rd one was on the other side of the fountian, closer to the river. I couldn't get over there because of the spary from the fountian.
I am loving my new Oly! I am already looking into a new flash, and a 50mm macro lens, or an extention tube. And I got my eye on the 50-200mm 2.8 Zuiko ED for the future.

Re: Jacksonville Florida
There are also several down by the Landing. One is right outside of Starbucks on Bay Street. The other is a couple blocks down toward I95.
Norfolk has mermaids. I had a blast on my last trip up their finding them all and taking pictures. The Norfolk Mermaids are permanent I believe. The different merchants bought and commissioned various artists to paint them. They have a whole walking tour mapped out like a fitness trail. I was kind of hoping JAX was going to do the same, but maybe not.
If you hear that they get them all together will you post please? I don't always hear about this stuff living up north in GA, but I would love to go see them and attempt shooting them too.
