I've Been Accused...
Of being slack in my postings. :-(
I've been busy. One of the things I've done is put all my Iguana photo's on a web page for Dawn. She has found an Iguana chatroom, and wanted to be able to show her vicious little darling, Yoda The Terrible. :-O
So here's what I've spent my time on...
http://www.photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=400406
I'm going to Greenville on Saturday to pick up two rolls of slides from my last mountain trip. Hopefully, I'll have something worth sharing.

Gloves?! That's cheating! I was in Houston recently and picked up an Armadillo with bare hands. Being from northern IL, I don't get a lot of opportunities to hold armadillos so why not? Next it'll be crocs... Well, maybe not. Have a good weekend...

what a beautiful
girl---and this time I'm not refering to Dawn :D
how long did it take Yoda to grow that big?
-
Speed,
Thank you, I think you know for what. :D I just recently checked my PO box, otherwise I would have said it sooner.
I respect people who keep pets that you need gloves to pick up. What's next, a falcon? :D

Yes, but will you be so kind to note that it is the boy using gloves. Dawn and I handle Yoda barehanded. And Dawn has the scratches to prove it!
I've handled snakes before (non-poisonous), but I'm not into crocs and other things that may decide I might taste good.
Anyone up for shark diving?
Thanks for the comments!

Yoda only took off on her growth spurt the last couple of months. Dawn was concerned that she wasn't growing well, so she took her to the vet. At three years old, she weighed one pound and two ounces. After being treated for worms and giardia (she didn't test Yoda for them, she just treated her since they are the most common iguana problems), she started packing on the weight.
Dawn has been feeding her vegetables specifically for her health (high calcium and calium to phosphorus ratios) for some time, but they didn't seem to help. Now she is bulking up, and she loves collards. She'll eat a plate full of them, then go lay on her heating pad and stink up the house. OK, it's not THAT bad, but she does smell after eating them.
Come on down sometime, and we'll let you play with her all you want! Just watch your fingers... :-O

I wish! Too expensive, and too much red tape!
Dawn and I handle her barehanded. But the boy doesn't like getting scratched.
You are welcome, my friend. Thought you might enjoy that.
Have a great day!

Your photos...
Of Yoda made me realize just how much I miss my iguanas. I just might have to pick one up. I'll try and remember to find some pics after I get back from Yosemite..
Thanks for posting these Speed-san!

But I don't want one. More money, red tape, and aggrevation than I care to take on. Besides, I'm too blasted busy to spend the neccessary time with a bird. But they sure are cool!
As for the boy, Dawn and I both gave him what for over wearing gloves. Maybe he was afraid his girlfriend wouldn't hold his hand if he was all scratched up. :-O
Kids today....

GOT ME ROB..........................
I never had any complaints about rough skin or scratches when i was an arborist from the LADIESSSSSSSSSS!!!!
IF I WAS TO SLAP YOU BACK THEN ..... IT WAS LIKE BEING HIT BY 50 GRIT SANDPAPER TOO
SCRATCHES were a DAILY thing too
I'VE caught 3 foot gators, dragged 8 foot gators from the road by the tail, caught eastern diamondbacks(biggest of the rattlers), ran an armadillo down and grabbed it by the tail, been bitten by 18 foot pythons, bitten by 170 pound dogs...... DAMB SISSY KIDS OF TODAY :)
teach him to moonwalk and get him a chimp :)

Hobby? Hmmm. The iguana was a gift to the boy years ago. He didn't really spend much time with it, so Dawn sort of adopted it. With an iguana, a hamster, two ferrets and two dogs, I refer to it as "Dawn's Zoo". Never a dull moment around our house.

To some of the photo's on that site. Pan down to the info listing, and the date is given down there. Not all of the photo's have dates (yet), but it will give you an idea of how little Yoda grew the first couple of years, and then how much she filled out in the past couple of months. For those of you interested in such things.
The lovely wife suggested that I add the dates. Gorgeous and brains - any wonder I married her?

Alot of REALLY cool shots!!
There a a bunch of great shots there Robert. I like "Yoda 3" the best though. It looks like he smiling for the camera, that cracks me up!! Looks like a cool pet to have, but my wife would have nothing to do with it. Reptiles just ain't her thing!!
Have a good one!!

Glad you liked the shots. One thing is for sure, they make interesting subjects to photograph! Want to work on angles, closeup, wideangle, macro? An iguana makes an interesting subject that you can practice all of these on.
Yoda is funny. Sometimes when I take her picture, she looks at me like she's mesmorized by the experience. "Hmmm, there's that bright light again...."
Have a good one buddy!

Can't wait to see those photo's! I've always thought it would be a blast to go where critters abound in their native habitat. Iguana's running all over the place sounds like a target rich environment for a photographer!
We'll be looking forward to seeing those photo's!
