I'm getting married
Since this group is a big part of my life, and fellow members being an extended family, I waned to share the following news. "I'm getting married, on February 7th."
We wanted to start a family and since we are not young whipper snappers anymore, wanted to do the right thing. She's been extremely supportive of my photography and cycling, and over the past two years it has been tested by time.
This event is just the two of us, with an unsuspecting hiker as our witness. A celebration party is to follow, but we wanted to keep everything in line with our personal beliefs and not the pressure of a wedding. The good thing is that we are getting married under the gaze of Ansel Adams in the valley of Yosemite.
Photography: Self portraits as our wedding pictures..and formal portraits, if needed, later.

I never thought I could commit to marriage again, but look forward to having a supportive friend for a long time.

Re: I'm getting married
Well Loren, let me be the first to offer my heartfelt congratulations!
Although I can't know what you must be feeling, because i've never been in those shoes, I can only imagine the immense joy that you must both be experiencing right now. And to have such a low-key wedding... I can only hope that someday I will have the same relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy such an event.
Once again... CONGRATS!

Re: I'm getting married
Congratulations, Loren! You two seem great together in the short time we met in Chicago. That will be a very memorable way to get married and a great place for a honeymoon to celebrate.
And - you don't have to worry about finding a wedding photographer! ;)

Re: I'm getting married
Loren,
What great news and as someone who has been married for 25 years now, a big future welcome to the club. Only thing to remember, marriage is something you work on every day. No formulas, no right or wrong way, just respect, treat each other the right way, and never go to bed mad and upset.
Now everyone knows where and when, you are sure to get that unsuspecting hiker as the witness.
Just remember, the biggest day of your life (the first and hopefully last doing it), is something that should be special to you two, what you want, and not what anyone else wants.
I remember my wedding day, as though it was yesterday, and still love my wife as much as I did then, now.
Don't get too hung up about having children, have them when it happens, but don't wait too long incase you need to go down the track we had to after trying a long time.
Take care, all the best and have a great, safe and happy day.

Re: I'm getting married
Hey everybody! Yosemite Gathering Feb 7th!!
WOW Loren that's incedible. I'm sorry I wasn't able to meet her. I think you're a great guy and definitely deserving of the best life has to offer. Make it a good one. Drink from Bridalveil Falls or something. It's nice to hear of somebody doing it different :)
Again, all the best! I'm going to go scan the Chicago gathering thread now.
Rick
p.s. I don't know but I think Peter's advice sounded pretty good.

Re: I'm getting married
Congrats to the both of you!!
How exciting! After meeting you both, which, by the way, I really enjoyed, I'd say it's a good fit!
Best to you both!

Re: I'm getting married
Congratulations Loren. It sounds to me as if you've found your soulmate, confirmed by the last two years of patience and nurturing between you and your wife. I wish you the best for the future, may your marriage grow and blossom for eternity as it was meant to be.

Thank You Very Much!!
Thank you everybody,
I cannot thank you enough for the warm wishes, and advice. (Thanks Peter for the good advice). Everybody who is on the PR.com forums are definitely worth being friends with.
It's hard to find somebody who can support you emotionally and has the same beliefs. Karen and I want to someday move to Central or Latin America and I look forward to building a life together. This forum is the inspiration for my photography and I hope to be a positive contributor in the future.
Thank you again,
Loren

Re: Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations! Although I must say, your honeymoon location looks like my definition of hell. I'm getting married in May and I'll likely be off to Costa Rica or Cyprus. I need sun and warmth!!

Thank you Liz
Liz, thank you so much for your wishes and thoughts. It's only a couple of days until we leave, and I'm looking forward to it.
Your kindness is never overlooked, and I wish you the best too.

Re: Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations too, and Costa Rica can never be described as a bad place to go.
Karen and I have been to many warm weather locations, but wanted to celebrate being Californians in the most beautiful place in our state. Sitting next to a fire and ice skating under the stars in Yosemite is heaven.
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding to you and your bride to be.
