    Two weeks and counting!

I'm starting to get pretty excited now! Only two weeks from now I'll be leaving California for good and moving back to Illinois.

I bought a T-Shirt from thinkgeek.com that I'll be wearing on my last day of work. I think I might mention it to my boss beforehand "just in case" it might rub him the wrong way

For the last (almost) 2 years I've been doing a job that I never chose to do. I used to do software QA but the group I worked for decided they couldn't afford my salary and opted to split my salary with another group while I supported them from an IT perspective. In other words, I was responsible for maintenance of about 100 workstations and a small handful of servers. NOT MY CHOICE. It was either that or I would have to leave the company empty handed.

Well, about 2 years later I've pulled myself out of debt and am able to finally say "Thanks but no thanks, I'd rather do something else"

Here's a photo of the T-Shirt I'll be wearing my last day on November 12th

    Where in Illinois?

I lived in the Chicago suburbs for 10 years (Hinsdale). I love Chicago and all the cultural advantages, food, the Chicago Symphony-arguably the best in the world then, food, museums, food, art galleries, food, lots of shopping malls, food, oh and did I mention the food? I don't miss the 20 below zero winters in February though.
Good luck dude, I almost envy you.

    Congratulations

You are the man. Getting out of debt is a major accomplishment. And that shirt rules. I will be getting great vicarious pleasure from you wearing it.

I'm very sorry we didn't get to do more together. Really.

That's awesome Trevor. To get yourself free and clear to do what you want to do. That's pretty awesome and we'll have to keep in touch once you move out there. Hopefully you'll be out in the next Chicago gathering. Congrats!!!

    Re: Two weeks and counting!

I had to look up the meaning of "vicarious"

One good thing about Chicago is that I can meet a few of the photogs up there. So while I might be missinh PJ, Loren, and others I'll be able to meet new people I wasn't able to before.

Thanks for the kind words and I'll be looking forward to future endeavors with the Cali gang....this time as a visitor
