    I finally took the plunge!!!

Having to choose images wasn't easy and trying to choose favourites with a portrait orientation was hard too.
I love the decisions I came to though

Also, thanks to Roger I had these printed at www.photobox.co.uk
Their service, colours, B&W's. choices of paper etc are superb!!!
I am ecstatic with the results because for over a year now, I have thought my photography and editing were at fault.

How do I know it wasn't me?
Well the pic of my Son that you see here...

I uploaded the exact same file that I uploaded to kodak. Kodak's print was contrasty and blown highlights on his forehead and cheeks etc were just awful. The print wasn't at all like the image on my screen!
It has come back from photobox PERFECT (no I never paid the extra for them to enhance the pic. I wanted to see how it came back from photobox. To prove to myself that it wasn't my editing.)

This has given me an enormous confidence boost.

Beautiful work Alison. I've been using MPix.com on this side of the pond. I had a shoot with my 11 year old for Dance Portraits this past Sunday, did the post and uploaded the files, the prints were in my hands on Wednesday via the mail. Great work for the same price as the local pharmacy lab.

    Thanks Jurgen!
And it's thanks to you and your flash tips for me that I am now using my flash with confidence.
This is the happiest I have felt, deep down, in a very very long time!
I am sat here almost in tears because I am so happy.

And, this may sound lame, but I feel it has to be said...
a BIG thank you has to go to photography review.
I came across this site by accident while doing a search on google.
My photography is what it is today because of everyone here!
    Thank you all so much!!!

They are just beautiful Ali you have every reason to be proud. And your photography today is what it is because you were will to do the work it took to get it to were it is. All the good advice in the world doesn't mean a thing unless you are willing to work and incorporate it into your photographic process. You have done well.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Re: I finally took the plunge!!!

    Thank you OT.
You are another person I have to be thankful to. You told me to come over to CC when I first joined.
    So, thank you for that!

I know what you mean though. Some people can be a little too big for their boots and refuse to take tips from others.
I don't profess to know everything and although my portraits are good I feel I am still learning alot as I go.

Even my PS work has improved since hubby bought me a book.
I'm always open to suggestions and I NEVER refuse tips from anyone.

I received a poster sized print of this today...

My Son is going to be so excited when he see's it
