Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

    Hi folks!

Well, we made it to Washington a couple weeks ago and have used the time to get settled in. Yesterday after church I finally got a chance to take some pictures. We had to cancel evening services because of ice on the road. This is NOT Southern California for sure, lol. Kinda miss that daily sunshine, but I'm sure I'll get used to it up here.

Anyhow, here's a sampling of pics after a fresh dump of snow.

And one more, in b/w of course. When I get the chance I'll try to take more photos. Can't wait to take a trip to Mt. St. Helens with my camera! We actually get a nice view of it from where we live but I want to take some pics of it up close and personal one day.

Been wondering how you were doing down there, Schrack.
It is 10 here in Wilkeson this morning. I've lived in this state my whole life and never seen that cold.
Been out thawing the car doors with a hair dryer.
    Snow again Wednesday.....Welcome to Washington.

    Thanks Frog!

Yikes! 10 degrees? That is much colder than it was here this morning. We had a low of 24, now warmed up to 31 but nice and sunny outside.

Good to hear from you Ray. Love those pics! Sure different than what we are use to seeing form you. We got up to rain and temp near 60 degrees this morning with but it's dropped nearly 25 degrees already and they are predicting a nice little ice episode for tonight. Oh well, great night to stay in I really didn't want to go out and shoot a basketball game anyway. Need to stay in and finish up a couple of photo projects I have going. Have a wonderful Christmas up there in the north country Ray.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Fantastic shots, Ray. I love the first two of the train; very classic style.

Re: Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Thanks Penny and Brad. After Sunday we got two days of beautiful sunshine, and this morning I woke up to this. A 5" dump of fresh snow, and I had to make a drive to Portland in it! Made the trip down okay, but on the way back hit some ice and swerved to the left, then right, then left, then right again before straightening out in the lane to the left of me. Reminded me of Adina's post not long ago (glad she's okay too!)

    Great shots Ray!

BTW, my son is in Minot, North Dakota. When I talked to him a couple of days ago, they had highs of -14. Wind chill was only around -40.

You got more than we did down there Schrack. Welcome to the vagaries of Western Washington weather. You probably have a bunch more this morning and be glad you don't live in Seattle area this morning.
That's a really nice last shot you posted. I'm hoping to get out today but it depends on how my wife is doing.

Re: Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Thanks Robert! But I sure don't envy your son, LOL. Lowest it's been here is just in the high teens. I guess I should be grateful.

Frog, yes I heard Seattle got it good, but we're still getting snow too. In fact, another few inches dropped last night and today and it's still snowing lightly as I type. The dogs don't seem to mind it too much. Here's a few more quick shots from this morning around town, nothing fancy.

Re: Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

That church and that shed are going to give you many photo ops. Is it your church?
We got a little more last night...seems like it was always north or south of us but this afternoon it finally started coming down good and we probably have 6 or 7 inches now.
Of course it started coming down while I was up the hill trying to shoot a cemetary in driving sleet and snow.
    I'll post some later.

No, it's the old Methodist church built in 1905, and is a historical landmark here in Washington.

Can't wait to see some of your photos! We've got about 8" of snow right now too and I'm pretty sure more is on the way.

Hi Ray, Nice catch of your dog running towards you.
You have captured some good stuff here. I also agree with Frog about future photo Ops at the church.

    Love the dog shot!

The ground around here is like broken glass with all the ice and this am it was -4 degrees, plus the wind chill. Morning dog exercise included Vaseline for Paws and exposed skin. Will get the sled boots out later today (dog boots that is), mine are already in use.

Great shots of the trains too! Stay warm and safe.
