Holga Playground

Trying to think of a good spot for my first real outting with the Holga, a local playground came to mind. We won't go there anymore due to the amount of profanity and lewd images carved into it. Thought it might make for an interesting pictorial though. I was in for a bittersweet surprise when I arrived to find it had been completely cleaned up since I was last there this past Summer. Still decided to shoot it anyway. Here's a few of the shots...

PS- I accidentally kinked my roll in a couple frames as you can see. Was a long day of processing several rolls and was a little impatient with this, my last roll DOH!

Thanks Greg. You should go pick one up. Only run you about $30 shipped for the bone stock one like I have. Good fun so far. It's a bit different from shooting my Rolleicord but, I think I'm getting a better feel for it. I'm thinking I might try some negatives abuse next roll with the Holga Now where did I put that sand paper?...LOL

Those scans look nice. Did you run them through NR and what film did you use?

These weren't run through anything. Just resized in Lightroom. Otherwise no editing. Shot with Neopan 400 and overdeveloped about 10% to add more contrast.

Though the graffitti would have been neat, I think you did a good job.
I did some Holga-ing over the holidays, now I just need to get paid for some freelance to actually *develop* it.

The fourth one is my favorite, but I feel it would have had been much better in color.
Don't forget the color!
I know someone else who used to shoot B&W all the time, but thanks to me urging, she started shooting color!

I like that last one a lot, Aaron. As for the film kinks - with Holga photos I think those are just bonus additions :-D

Thanks John Went out shooting with it again today and now I'm thinking it will be a bit more difficult to shoot with than I originally thought. Took it out hiking and a lot of the shots I would normally take just didn't seem like they would work with the Holga

I know what you mean. I think you have to learn to see things differently and look for a different kind of subject matter for good holga photos. I struggled with it and eventually put it aside to concentrate on what I knew. But I have a real appreciation for good Holga work. I really like the aesthetic. And a nice print from a Holga is a wonderful thing.
