    The Highlights of Your Life....

I thought it would be fun to start a thread where anyone can post a collage of pictures where certain highlights of your life are emphasized. I figure posting messages can be somewhat impersonal at times, so I thought this might be a good way for some of us to get to know others a little bit better. I'm sure hoping a few others will participate.

    So...me first...

#1 1966, 1 year old, living in a flat in San Francisco's Mission District. Aren't I just adorable? So innocent and cute...and chubby!

#2 1975, 9 years old, and thought I was a major leaguer wearing this uniform. Unfortunately my batting averages didn't reflect that at the time, lol. I'm was still cute, though!

#3 1987, 22 years old, looks like I didn't stay so innocent–or cute for that matter! Got in a fight with three guys at once...all a heck of a lot bigger than me. They won.

#4 1988, 23 years old, ah the turning point of my life...becoming a Christian, and then getting baptized on Christmas night.

#5 1998, 32 years old, another most wonderful change in my life...getting married to Claudia. Here my son (then 12) acted as my best man. *snifff*

#6 2004, 38 years old, one of my favorite trips taken with Claudia...to the Grand Canyon. Can ya tell it was cold??

Great idea Ray. That #3 is a nasty looking dude.

I'll see what I can put together may take a while. I hope a lot of people join in the fun on this thread.

Yeah I was pretty cocky back then. It's a wonder I didn't get beat up more than I did!! One would think that after getting pounded like that it'd calm me down, but it didn't. I just got more cocky. Of course, all that changed with pic #4. Haven't got in a fight since, or beat up for that matter, lol.

Ray I still think this is a great thread idea and I promise I'll get something going this weekend to post. Got a zillion images to go through to try and decide on 4 or 5. I hope a bunch more will join in also.

Re: The Highlights of Your Life....

Ok Ray I said I would get something together this weekend. It wasn't easy and I am not at all satisfied with what I did but I did promise.
#1 My Mom and I 58 years ago this month.
#2 My family around 1960 I am the good looking one on the right.
#3,4,5 My life through grade school and high school was defined by sport but only pics I had were the latter years.
#6 This is the reason many people don't think I always exercise the best judgement. I did end up with major surgery and several weeks in a cast.
#7&8 Myself and Joy the summer after we were married.
#9 My family defined my life. The self timer was a standard family picture technique. The kids always got a kick out me running to get in the picture, sometime I made it sometimes not.
#10 We celebarated in very small ways but always with a lot of love involved.
#11 The kids and spouses with me getting ready for a little hike in a state park.
#12 The reason I have survived all these years the love of my life Joy.

Wow, OT, these are GREAT. I especially like the way you struck that pose for the football shot. Classic! And tell your wife she is as lovely as ever. Thanks for playing along. Sure gives me a little more perspective behind the one posting, too. Now I only wish you could be here for the L.A. gathering so I could meet the both of you!

Re: The Highlights of Your Life....

I would love to be in LA but don't think that is in the cards for me. We will be in West Texas In late Sept. Hopefully our second grandchild will have been born and we can get to know him/her for a week or so. Wish I had been able to put together something a little better for this thread, but I did finally get something posted. There is a lot in a life that has stretched on for 58 years. Hope others will take the time to play this one. Great idea Ray.

Re: The Highlights of Your Life....

    Me, a few hours old

The stuffed dog was a very good friend of mine, in fact I still have him.

Learning about cameras from my Opa

I get a brother, who would become a real pain in the neck.

    Wheels!

    First photo!

Lego, this toy was one of my favourites. And it helped me out several years later

I enter the education system (Grade 1)

Big Highlight, in grade two I read over 1000 books in the school year, the entire school comes out to meet me after a ride in an MG Convertable, front page news in the local paper also.

Skipping ahead to Grade 7, I've since gotten glasses (Grade 5) and am one of six selected to compete in the finals for a Canada Wide Lego building contest. I end up getting second place and a whole pile of Lego sets and other cool prizes.

I learn about something called "The Internet" and it consumes me, seriously.

Summer camp, I went to the same camp for many many years. This camp was also where I made a choice that would affect the rest of my life, I accepted Christ here just before going to High School (1998) and accepted his sacrifice and he became my personal saviour.

First flight, it was a birthday present. I got to with a pilot take up and fly a Cessna 152. The pilot said I was a natural at flying. Sadly I haven't been able to continue doing this I may pick it up one day when I have lots of spare money.

I start attending PYPS Weekends in 1999. Not only does it help my social life it also helps me grow in my faith and make all sorts of cool new friends and discover more skills I had. And of course my photography skills by taking lots of photos at the weekends.

Martha, why is Martha a highlight, because she has become a very close and dear friend to me over the course of me knowing her. She's showed me so much in the way of kindness and unconditional love.

Another moment, I discover and take up Urban Exploration, meet another whole group of friends. Here's some of us on the top of Lister Block in Hamilton

I conven my first PYPS Weekend (Winter 2006)

I graduate after many years in the educational system from Sheridan College.

Hey Axle, that's not a collage but I'll take it! Great pics and great story, especially your summer camp experience of coming to know the Lord.

I also like the photo of you and your Opa. That has to be a very cherished memory for you.

I'm still looking for that "rocker" picture of me but it's eluding me at the moment. Will post it when I find it.

Re: The Highlights of Your Life....

Here are a few more from my old photo album:

1970, five years old, taken in some elementary school in San Francisco. I believe it wasn't long after this that my brother and I went to go live in a foster family in Hayward, with whom we spent the rest of our childhood growing up until we graduated from high school. Look at that crazy hair! I hate to admit this, but my hair looked like this again from 19 to 23!!

OT, here's mine from 1972, when I was 7. Check out the same kind of groovy pants on my cousin that your wife was wearing. I think this pic was taken on the day the Super Bowl was playing too or was about to play later on that day.

And here I am at 13 in 1979, graduating 8th grade from All Saints Catholic Parochial School in Hayward, CA (yes, these were still the days when the nuns wore habits and smacked you around if you got out of line!). The tall guy is my brother John, who was 16 or 17 at the time. He was the reason I had to be so tough as a little guy as I was always fighting with him and he was always much bigger than me. Trust me, though, I found creative ways to even out the advantage he had against me. :yesnod:

And this was taken but a year and a half ago at my old job by one of my co-workers, George. I wasn't prepared for a picture that day but he wanted to snap one anyway with his old Nikon film camera. I had gained a little bit of weight at this job since it was a desk job and I had been doing it for about 5 years. Some of it has come off and I don't look as chubby in the face now. I'm back down to a more manageable 150-155 lbs...I think.
