Hello everyone.

I'm just getting used to navigating all of the boards here. For almost a year I've only been on the sports board & was happy to find this board.

Here is one of my 3 sons (I have 4 children total). He had the time of his life on the 4th of July. He got to blow off a cannon that is built per specs of a civil war cannon. There is something good about being able to snap off over 8 pics a second. The 2nd pic I'm posting is not seen by the human eye. I was shocked as was everyone else when we saw the pic.

Right b4 the cannon went off.


This is the pic that freaked us out.

That second shot is AWESOME! You got the flash and your son wasn't under exposed. Nice!

Hey JETA nice to have you over here. It's a little losser here you can post about anything and it doesn't have to have a ball in it. Were interesting in learning about you and your photography. Your first post on viewfinder is a great intro. Love that second one. Looks a little scarry to me not sure I would have let my sons do that. HA as if I could have stopped them if they had gotten the chance to fire something like that. Welcome once again.

You crack me up OT! I like that this board is loose. There is so much I want to learn, but never know where to put the pics or pose questions.

The cannon was as safe as cannons go. Haha....

It's nice to tell a bit about myself. When I first joined this board I was being harrassed online and everywhere I went I was followed and bothered. So when I came here I didn't offer any info about myself at all. Now I feel safer and would like to give of myself a bit more.

So a bit about me..... Do you mind? My name is Julie. J-E-T-A are the initials of my grandparents names. I've been married for going on 20 years. We have 4 children. 17, 16, 7 & 6. Three boys and the baby is a girl. Photography was something that started to blossom for me quite a few years back. My oldest son is in baseball (leaving to play college ball next month) and I could NOT handle baseball parents. They are frighteing! lol So I'd take my camera and hide around dugouts, in the outfield, first baseline..... Then I started loving it. I ended up the team photog for that select team. Last year I ended up shooting for our hs football team and that was when I appeared on the sports board. I did pics and slideshows for them and I'm doing the same this year. The kicker is they want me to do team & individual pics this year and I know nothing about it. Since I'm at all of the games the sports editor of the local paper has got to know me and published my pics a few times last year. I even made the front page in color.

Did you fall asleep? I have many more boring details for you!

That cannon is loud! It shook the windows of the house. My son had the time of his life. Between that and riding a waverunner all day he was in heaven.

Nice to know you as Julie as well as JETA. I know you visited a few colleges. How far from home did your son end up? Hope it's close enough that you'll make a few games. Don't worry to much about those football group and indiviuals they are pretty straight forward and relatively easy. Talk to us over on the sports board I'm sure there are plenty that have experience with that sort of thing. I haven't done any for several years but use to do our Little League and Small Fry Football League each season. Just got to be more work than I wanted so I moved on to things I wanted to do photo wise.

I'm in Washington State about 45 miles south of Seattle. Antone (the baseball player) is going to be playing baseball at a JC in Nothern Cali just outside of Reno. So he isn't going to be close, but Reno flights are cheap from Seatac. I plan at being at every game I can.

My daughter played college basketball and was 3 hours away. We would do the turn around on night game. Six hours on the road and 2 1/2 or 3 hours at the gym made for some long days. I have done it three times in a week. But when your a parent you do what you have to. My wife did a conference in Seattle a couple of years ago and came back just raving about it. Beautiful country and great food is the way she put it. Some day I'd like to get out there and sample the salmon.

Boy, if you haven't had our salmon you've been missing out on something.

I grew up in and still live in a Croatian fishing community. All of my family used to own and operater seiners. Suffice to say we lived on & off of salmon. Now most of the fishing boats are gone and my town caters more to pleasure craft.

There is nothing like wild salmon. I'd rather chew off my left arm then eat farmed salmon.
