    Hi Andy!

Wow! These are really nice. The colors are just fantastic and the frames really work well. Did I mention your signature? I like the way it creeps on the frame... Very tastefully done.

    I like them all...

But there is one I do like a little bit less than the others....

and that's the last one, i.e. the one with the building. I find the perspective to be a bit too strong. Have you ever considered to use a lens with a tilting mechanism? I wonder how much improvement one can expect from these lenses.

    Beautiful work.

    Cheers,

    Steph.

    Re: My Trip to Boston

    Steph. - thanks a million.

I've not had the opportunity to work with a tilt and shift lens yet. I also wonder what kind of result it would produce.

I was in Boston to meet with the Hampshire House Corp. - they own Cheers (and 3 other restaurants/pubs in the Boston area). These shots were mostly taken between web site design meetings with them - it's over in the Public Garden and Boston Common. The cake, table, and place setting were taken in Hampshire House - they were setup for a wedding when I took the shots.

Nice shots, Andy - the only thing is that a couple of the people shots - the boy and the couple - are cropped a little tight. Seeing the boy's entire shadow might make it a little stronger.

Like the branch of the tree filling up the bare sky at the bottom but also agree on the perspective. Actually, you don't need a T/S lens to fix it, just Photoshop! A tilt-shift lens will straighten parallel lines that appear to converge because the camera is tilted up. I can't explain the physics behind it, but it's how large format photographers do it by moving all of the adjustments on the camera. Tilt and shift are two of the several movements they have available, but like I say you can get pretty good results in Photoshop.

Andy -- as always, good work. However, you were Boston and you didn't look me up? I owe you a beer!

Sorry, Todd - this was a jam-packed business trip. My friends from Manchester only got 3 hours with me after they drove down.

    Thanks for the comments.

    Great shots!

I particularly like the 2 dock shots, especially the one with the women just hanging out (reminds me of my college-sailing days hanging out on the charles during regattas). The perspective and lighting work really well in that one.
Reminds me, I've got some slides of the John Hancock/ Newbury street that I have to get enlargements of sometime soon.
