    Welcome, Mike!
Don't worry about jumping in. We were all beginners once or maybe even twice.

Yes, I think i fall into the 'twice' bracket being an old hand with film. i haven't had a camera in my hand for well over a decade though.

Ask as many questions and read as much as possible, a lot of great people willing to help out.

Congrats on your first digital camera. What kind is it? What are your interest in shooting?

Sorry for the delay in replying, yet to get my own computer and internet connection, fixed income means a slow process.

It's a Nikon D100, given by my eldest as he upgraded. Been shooting left right and centre. Have to say, having now looked at what I've got my success rate leaves a lot to be desired. I seem to have forgotten more than I've remembered.

Back in the day I did quite a bit of street photography, but from what I've read on the internet one can sometimes takes one's life in one's hand doing street these days.

I've yet to settle on a genre, but it will, hopefully, be people oriented.
