    Great Week on the Gallery!
If you are not a regular viewer of the Gallery you are missing out on some great photos. This has been a very good week for post of image that don't show up on any of the forums. OK I know I'm the moderator of the gallery and I'll a little basis but you do owe it to your self to browse the gallery every once in a while. If you are not allowing some of your image to go up on the Gallery you should for a couple of reasons, first it's a great way for you to review in a hurry what you have posted here on PR and second it allows someone that sees a photo of your that they like in one of the forums to quickly review more of your photos. Use the Gallery you'll be glad you did.

I do! And I love the gallery. Especially since I've gotten 2 POD's so far, last one yesterday. :)

i don't use it due to several reasons, mostly its to hard to view lots of pics ( 9 thumbnails at a time) and takes forever to upload photos to. photobucket is much easier for me, and it resizes for me...

If you do no more than check the box when you upload a picture to the forums your picture will be there for those that do like to use the Gallery to enjoy. You don't have to do anything else. There are many PR users that never come to forums and there for miss out on your great nature photos.

I know there's more to the gallery than I have seen and mostly I just check my own to see if I've loaded anything there I don't want.
I do like that larger images can be loaded there as some shots just look better the bigger they are.
What I wish is that there was a way to load images there from the forums home page.
If I want to go to my gallery, I have to look for something I've posted and then click my gallery under my avatar.

In the upper right hand corner of any gallery page there is a drop menu labeled "Per Page" and you can select up to 18 at a time.

I think the best reason to post there is that there is not a restriction on file size. I save it for my keepers. Some pics deserve to be viewed full size.

The Gallery is an amazingly cosmopolitan group. I generally invite or encourage newcomers to join in the forums as well but, many time get back a note saying that because of limited English skills they prefer to stick with the Gallery where their responses and comments are kept to a minimum. The contributions from Eastern Europe and South America have been a highlight this week.

Rod makes a great point about file size and the fact that you can view up to 18 thumbnails at a time saves a lot of time eliminating images that you have no interest in viewing larger. No opening a thread just to find that it is a subject or photos that don't hold a lot of interest to you as an individual or photographer. We all have our favorite photo subjects and the Gallery allows you to quickly find those images. And for you tech people exif info is available for nearly all the images. No having to ask in an additional post, "What was your shutter speed or what focal length did you shoot at?" It's all there. I know the Gallery isn't for everyone but I just thought there may be some that were missing out on some great pictures and would enjoy browsing the Gallery from time to time.

Yes, by posting your photographs here, instead of in some other photo sharing site, you can actually see your photographs at work for example where some photo sharing sites are blocked and photographyreview.com isn't...

It is a great feature. :)

Now manually adding shooting info isn't neccesary, the EXIF data bar automatically displays plenty...

Thank you for the reminder and invite to the Gallery. I am new to this site and the Gallery. Other than converting the RAW file to jpeg is there anything else you recommend I do to a photo [recommended size] for best viewing in the Gallery?

    Frog-
There's no way to upload directly from the forums. But there is an easier way to get to your photos than the one you've described. If you go to the gallery (Share > Photo Gallery), there's a link in the upper left that says, "My Photos." As long as you're logged in, that link will be there and you can use it to go directly to your Member Gallery. I've attached a screenshot so you can see what I mean.

I always tend to forget about the gallery.

To be perfectly honest I haven't really "got" it.

As pointed out in another post there is no limit in the gallery to size posted. I however generally limit my post to a max of 1000 pixels in width that generally will give the viewer that wishes to view the image larger a full screen without having to scroll across to see the entire image. Other may like to post larger so that certain details or noise levels can be seen by the viewer. Nice to have you as a new PR forum and Gallery member. I hope to see lots of your images in the future.

Two of my favorite features of the Gallery are My Photos and My Favorites. These two feature make it very convenient and time effective to review my own post on PR and those photos of others that I think are worth of going back and looking at again. Each feature allows you to specify a time frame of images you want to look at for example 1 day, 1 week, 1 month or even from the beginning of the time you stated the saves. You also have the option of deleting an image time you get tired of it or you post a different version.

You can add keywords to your photos.
    It's very searchable
You have your very own member gallery
You can post your photos to categories
You can search by camera, lens, and film type
    EXIF data
You can upload any size photo
Unlimited storage space (for now, anyway)
    Your own favorites gallery

The gallery is like a whole new world. Lots of people only post in the gallery, and you never see them in the forums. If you stick to the forums, you're missing a ton of great images, and great people.

Amen! Some of my best PR buddies and photographers are only on the Gallery.
