Re: Great Smoky Mountains
Welcome to the boards. I'm pretty new myself, but I think you will like it around here. I know I've learned quite a bit.
Those shots are gorgeous. The 1st especially, since it is well composed and set up and you captured the deer looking at you.
You will be teaching me a thing or two I can see.
Re: Great Smoky Mountains
Very nice, Kevin, and welcome. I especially like the last one. Post processed, but with a light hand. - Terry
Re: Great Smoky Mountains
Thanks for the kind words! That last one is an HDR photo (which is why it's smaller, I had to reduce the size to meet the file size requirement), and I think I overdid the saturation somewhat, but it's one of those I just couldn't help myself. Photomatix can provide too much of a good thing sometimes.
Thanks again!

Welcome to the site!
I agree about the oversaturation - especially in the water. It's got a very unnatural blue/cyan color that jumped right out at me. You're ahead of the game, though. There are a lot of people out there that don't realize you can overdo it with the HDR :)
I like the first one of these the most. I love the soft misty trees in the background with the perfectly focused deer. That really *looks* smoky to me. And it's so different-looking from the mountains and forest in the West that I find it exotic and enticing.
Have you looked at the Photo Critique forum yet? That's the place for serious feedback. In fact, I think it's one of the best places on the Web for real photo critique.
You've obviously got a good eye for a scene and composition. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work!
