it just so happens i DID shoot 3 quick images yesterday of a canada goose(named for mr. Canada btw..not the country)

i was VERY TIRED, but my brother begged me to go birding . i neglected to change my WB setting so the color is off a bit due to overcast conditions and my lack of knowledge/ laziness towards color correction ;)

the angle is wrong due to the 5ft drop to water level.... but it will do(yes it's centered, but an 8x10 crops 2 inches long ways)

true i find little that draws me to shoot the average canada goose, but remember that a common bird doesn't mean they aren't worth shooting!

the most sold bird images are cardinal, chickadee, ....... everyone knows them :)

i will estimate that right now 1/2 million canada geese are in NJ ...YIKES!!!!!!

Boy, that's a lot of Canadian geese poop in New Jersey!!! You managed a good shot, even with the dull colors. Good one, as usual.

    Thanks for the Goose.....
    Hi Paul,

Despite the weather etc, the image is razor sharp, very nicley done. I'm going to try & get some images as we have so many at the moment as my longest lens is 200mm.

We live in an area where we have a resident year round population, as well as a migratory bunch, thats the ones in the fields feeding right now.

Thanks for the example Paul, reading your post's to other people, you would try & get to either level or just above eye level with your subject?

ok here's a tip for goose images

those nasty grass recyclers(3 pounds each a day) will/are nesting :)

they will only leave the nest if you get within 12 feet or so(and will try and bite).. getting bit isn't that bad, but a foot usually keeps them away :) find a nesting geese(the mates will be close by too) and see how close you can get without trying to shoot images. once you know your limitations get low (cardbourd will keep you from bewcoming green with scat) and find the perfect head position and SNAP!!!!

nature is like people imagery in a way...... you don't see too many people being shot from a step ladder :) eye level or there about is the most pleasing in most situations.

btw.... my image is junk!!!! NEXT TIME I'M OUT I'LL GET A GOOD ONE FOR YOU
